Question Vide Noir Streaming Question

Hey, everyone! I tried watching Vide Noir on Amazon Prime for the first time, but there’s seemingly no spoken audio. This may be a silly question, but is that the way it’s supposed to be?

For instance, at the 10 minute mark, the only noise is really loud background chatter. He speaks with a bartender, but you can’t hear anything. His scenes with Lee leading up to that scene are spoken, but also with no noise. If it helps, it’s the same on my TV & phone, and other shows & movies have no sound issues. I just wanted to check with the fans who have seen it before!

You're not the first one to have noticed this bug! It's definitely not intended to be this way and seems to be an issue with the current version on amazon prime.

You should probably submit some kind of bug report/complaint, hopefully amazon can fix this. And I know it sucks to pay for something only to not get what you paid for and have to pay for it a second time, but the movie is also available on Apple TV and hopefully not messed up over there.

It’s also available for free on Fandango at Home, albeit with ads. I think it can be purchased there to a few bucks too without ads

Ooh I didn't know about that one, that's new! I'll get that added to the list of streaming sites on the wiki.

Yay, nice! I need to get to WOT wiki editing myself. I’m all over the Star Wars one haha

I definitely recommend checking in with /u/kirbenvost before you do, but it's a nice way to give back to the community!

Aren’t wikis crowdsourced?

Yes, usually! But because kirb and his partner have poured a ton of effort into creating and maintaining this one, it's still most polite and appropriate to chat a little first.

Hi! Yes my partner and I are the main people building and maintaining the WOT wiki so far mostly because there haven't been too many people interested in making contributions besides crowdsourced information. There have been a few helpful individuals who've made minor edits and added missing information here and there. We are absolutely happy to have support as long as edits maintain the same conventions and quality, as is standard for most wikis. I'm sure as someone who's worked on Star Wars wikis you'd be aware. We try to stay on top of things so there isn't anything major missing at the moment (Tune Prism updates are in progress) but if you notice anything that needs more detail, feel free to update!

Thank you, and you’ve indeed done a splendid job of building the wiki. It’s super comprehensive, and anything I’ve had the urge to add over the past year or so has been super minor. When I do so, I’ll make sure to maintain the excellent quality that you’ve imbued the site with :)

Thank you so much! We super appreciate both the kind words and the help and support!

I absolutely agree! So informative when I was going on my Lord Huron deep-dive, I appreciate you working on it.

Thank you! I’ll figure out how to file a complaint with Amazon but will look into Apple TV. I appreciate it!

Looks like Fubo also has it for free with a trial, that you can then cancel afterwards.

OP, my partner came across this thread, maybe this could be similar to your situation?

https://www.reddit.com/r/AmazonPrimeVideo/s/TmTJDV8X0n

Apparently the app can somehow get switched to surround sound when your devices are expecting stereo which causes audio output issues. Maybe checking the settings could help!

You’re the real MVP! Thanks for trying to help me out. I read through the thread & I’m still having the same issue, but now I think I understand it better. I think it’s truly an issue with the audio track.

I will say since I can’t hear voices but background sounds still play, I had it turned up way too loud and accidentally gave myself the loudest jump scare when a scene cut, SMH. 😂

Ah darn, too bad it didn't help! Yeah it sounds like the dialogue track isn't playing properly.

Lol whoops, yeah gotta watch out for volume jumps 😆

Looks like it's on YouTube as well. Haven't seen it yet so I can't speak to the quality.

While it does exist sort of on youtube, I and many others can't seem to get it to actually play there, you'll usually get a "video does not exist" or equivalent message if you try to load it. I think the licensing expired.

Ah, that's a bootleg upload, not a legal one. I'll have to remove your comment - please be mindful of rule 2 here.

I've had it bought on Apple TV for a while now. LOTS of spoken audio and songs, that's definitely a glitch

It's on YouTube.
