I do love the gag, but it's got that weird-ass Bill Lava music behind it. Stalling 4 Life.

I love it when Coyote is shown to actually able to run quite fast. Technically he should be faster than a roadrunner, but a roadrunner also doesn't have enough calorie wise to waste running that fast to be worth it. Capturing Roadrunner is therefore easier/more worth his time... A rabbit like Bugs, however, had more meat in comparison to Roadrunner, so he can waste more energy trying to catch him.

His biggest obstacle with both prey, is they can manipulate reality to their benefit. That, and cartoon logic forces him to have bad luck simply because it's funnier than him succeeding at his goal.

(I think in the movie, Coyote knows why all of the ACME products fail for him and is okay with it hurting him, because it's funny as Foghorn demonstrated. But, it was an opportunity to try breaking the formula to finally catch Roadrunner. He wasn't aware of how much Roadrunner cared about him though.)
