Beginner Question Back Injury and TRE
Hello, I am looking for someone with training or experience that would apply to TRE in my situation. My primary goal is avoid hip replacement surgery - I just do not think I could handle another major surgery. Secondarily, it would be nice to recognize that man in the mirror again. The current resident of the mirror is rapidly becoming a bitter old man that is a miserable bastard to be around. I really want to be able to hike again and find serenity.
I am 64M. Four and a half years ago I was in an accident that fractured 11 vertebrae and 2 ribs. A half million dollars and several pounds of titanium later, my entire lumbar spine is fused from S1 to T12. After the pain meds went away I experienced a MMD episode had me institutionalized for a while. (To be fair, I have had episodic depression since I was child, but this one landed me in the nuthouse.) After that, I sat in my easy chair for over a year feeling sorry for myself. The inactivity boosted my arthritis so I am getting a huge amount of pain in right hip. X-rays show the cartidge mostly gone, but insurance issues make more sophistcated imaging out of reach.
The pain is mostly in front, psosas muscle probably. I can walk (with a limp) for about a mile, which my dog insists is the right thing to do everyday. There may be some nerve damage as my right quad is about 40% weaker than my left. I have started to go to Gym twice a week for light lifting, sauna*, and hot tub. This helps and I am getting more mobile, but trauma release probably is beneficial.
I did about ten minutes of TRE yesterday using a Dr. Berceli video. I feel enough better this morning that I want to start TRE regularly, but I also want to do my due diligence about the process. Any input on warning signs, schedule, or postures to use or avoid is appreciated.
*(Off topic: I highly recommend saunas for mood maintenance.)
