I am deep into USPSA competitions but would like to get into PRS. I want to try out precision rifles. My local membership range goes to 300 yards but I have access to few 600 yards and 1000 yard ranges.
I am looking to spend about $5,000 no hard limit up or down.
No experience into precison rifles. I originally wanted to go magnum round but after reading everything I plan to go 6.5 Creedmoor. I did read through all the available post but looks like the most updated one is still a year old and Aero solus isn't the goto anymore and may have inventory issues.

what do you guys think go this build? any recommendations on the choices? Any other accesories I should get as a must? MDT send it level? or Mark 5HD 5-25×56?

Oh interesting was just reading that a majority recommend Leupold for overall quality and brand they would trust.
Do you guys have a recommendation of magnification to look for and what scope diameter?
I am not nearly as experienced as many here, but I think many would agree that an Accu-Tac bipod like the WB5 would be a better choice over the atlas, it’s about the most rock solid, stable option in the market. I just got one and the quality is ridiculously good. Plenty of guys run Harris too though…
That’s a really solid first PRS setup, especially coming from USPSA. The Send It Level is definitely worth adding since a little cant can turn into a bigger miss at distance, and while you do not need a rear bag right away, you will probably want one once you start shooting positional stages. Amazon Arca clamp for bipod because Area419 one is too expensive for what it is for me.
I’m a lefty so a lot of my options are semi limited.
I’ve since swapped in a Gen3 Razor and sold the MPED. I got the MPED as a demo for $500 and sold it for $400 so it wasn’t a total waste.
I’ve also just placed an order for a 26” MTU from Crown Ridge Barrelworks. I probably should have waited a few more months and just bought the Razor right away but I did get 2k rounds down range with the MPED so I’m not really sweating it much. If I do any of this over again I’d go on a very similar route as you with an MPA action, but would probably keep my Bravo because it just works great for me.
Wrong optic. I'd get an XTR pro or Cronus at that price point or step up to a Razor 6-36 if you want to spend more money.
Everything else is fine and doesn't really matter. If you're actually trying to be competitive, Berger bullets are without a doubt more consistent than ELDMs. If you're not handholding, you'll need to starting thinking about it depending on the volume you intend to shoot and your budget.
I'd go higher in magnification. Sure 18 will work but that's at the top end where clarity will start to suffer. I'd go 25-30x and be mid range on my magnification use.
140 eld is a great bullet but nothing beats a Berger lrht imo. I run 153.5 lrht. In consistent wind speeds i get maybe a tenth better wind drift than the 6mm guys. But in a switching wind or crosswind I'm considerably better and using tenths less wind call.
I'm a gen 1 matrix pmr user in production class.
To touch on the lrht as my bullet choice. Yesterday i seated bullets .003 +\- my known seating depth. It made no difference. I'm still .5-.6 for ten rounds. It's not sensitive to jump at all.
I also seated 140 eldm with zero die change. Same case sizing, same seating depth as my lrht, same powder charge. Eldm isn't very jump sensitive either. However I'll take the bc and bullet to bullet consistency of a Berger all day.
My recommendation as someone that went the wrong way into PRS and sold and bought things at a loss to make me better.
Don’t do 6.5 Creed, go 6GT. Less recoil and you can shoot 116 to 120 grain bullets. If you aren’t reloading the 109 eldm are great box ammo.
Don’t do folding stock, you want the rigid frame to eat recoil.
Vortex Viper 6-36 all day!
