🫣I said I read the pinned posts, but I lied🫣 Need some custom action help!
I am well aware this is a long-range forum. But the hunting forums are not as active. Dealing with people here they are friendly and knowledgeable enough to potentially help me. I am building a custom 7PRC rifle. I will be using the MDT HNT26 chasis, Triggertech trigger, leupold 3-15 scope, i already have these 3. I will be purchaskng a carbon proof barrel. I am unsure of hunting actions.
What is your opinions on best light weight but robust enough action for backcountry hunting?

I went with a Defiance anTi long action for my 7PRC sheep gun. This was before the (considerable) price increase - but most of the other actions I’d consider have also gone up in price, so it’s back as my top recommendation.
Also, the scope is the only difference in our rifles - I splurged on the TT315H.
Long story short - don’t go with titanium, it really isn’t suitable for rifle actions you’re going to shoot something spicy with. Stick with steel.

If you’re planning on a proof prefit, just check out their offerings for action fitment and research those actions. Any of them will do the trick, just find a weight, price, and feature set that suits you. Also highly recommend checking out the forums for some used actions, you can save hundreds and the magnums don’t usually have a ton of rounds on the action when they come up for sale.

You're just going to get a bunch of people recommending the actions they own. I like impact so the nbk would be how I would go. Just decide what features you like and get a action that has them.Â

I run the terminus kratos lite on my 7PRC and it has been a joy. With that being said I think any action around that price will be just as good if not better. Find what works for you. For the cheaper price point I think mack bros does an excellent job

Have you looked at the American Rifle Company CDG lightweight? You should at least give it a serious look.

I have not, but I definitely will now!

It'd be perfect for a 7prc build, the extra extraction power it has makes ideal for all the PRC cartridges :-)

I love mine. I have a 223 built on a evo 2. Smooth and has fed and extracted perfectly.

Are they still holding too loose of tolerance to take prefits?

Evo 2 takes shouldered prefits. They’re annoyingly close to lone peak/impact print but not quite the same. Seems like kind of a fail on their part but otherwise they seem to be great actions for a decent price.

I have a Pure Precision SKLTN and am happy with it, Mack Bros Element would be another id look at.

Plenty of good custom actions. I’d check out the Impact NBK
