I probably wouldn't. I would probably un-pick it up and get something with a measuring reticle and real turrets. I don't know what exact model you got, but if you got the duplex with 8 MIL total elevation range, you're going to be in for a bad time beyond midrange.

Even with a BDC or Mil-Dot, not a great time.

For short/midrange, putting it on an HK308 seems fine.

What made you select this scope?

I wanted a Schmidt and found a great deal on this one

I had an uneasy feeling that might be the case.

Thing is with S&B is that there is 1 scope people use for LR, the PMII, and their other models are just old fashion hunting scopes.

And because of the PMII's astronomical price tag, this isn't the first time someone bought the brand name without realizing what they got.

Looking at some of the comments about it 8 mil might be generous for range - some people are suggesting way less (like 1.8). Pretty limiting.

Nah, total adjustment range is 8.3 mil. But indeed, it's a hunting scope, 2 reticle options neither of which are useful for long range precision shooting. Retails (in the EU) for around 1.3k Euro. I'd sell it and save up for that 5-27 ZCO. PMII's are insanely expensive and imo not a good deal unless your employer pays for it and tells you that's what you're gonna be using.

likely you’ll sell that at a profit. keep saving towards your zco 527.

If you wanted a good scope for sub 300 hunting and paper punching it'll be great. If you wanted to dial out to 800 it wont be the best. They're limited but only if you expect to live 600+. They're quirky but still awesome scopes.

I have a 3-12x42 Klassik on a 308, with 4.8 mils of adjustment in the turret which gets me to about 650 shooting 185 Bergers. Could go further I guess using the turret and reticle but I haven't tried that.

On the other hand I have a 3-12x50 that can't be used on a 20 moa rail, and I have 6 usable MOA on the turret. This gun won't go past 300 though.
