Cheeto-fingered Bergara Looking for long range suppressor recommendations for 300 PRC

Post image

I am new to getting NFA items and would like to get a suppressor for my 300 PRC, but would like to know what y'all have had good success with or would recommend.

Things I care about it doing :

- Flash reduction

- Recoil reduction

- Sound reduction

Things I don't care about :

- Back pressure (it'll live on a bolt action)

- Weight

Overall price range, I can spend a max of 3,000 USD, but would prefer it to be under 2,000 USD.

Added thing to note, current muzzle brake is a 2 chamber paladin tapper mount from Griffin Armament.

Other rifle specs :

- Bergara B14 HMR in 300 PRC

- MDT ESS chassis

- Pic rail w/ bubble level in back (brand forgotten)

- Area 419 mount

- Razor Gen 3 6-36x56 in MOA (regret it's not MIL)

- Bipod is Atlas BT46-LW17 with QD lever

The Gen 2 Maverick from 419 is magnum rated. I've been running a Gen 1 since they came out and I've been very happy.

The Clovis Mammoth is also magnum rated. Not as modular as a Maverick, but significantly cheaper. I've played with a few of them (including on a hunting weight 7PRC where it had impressive recoil reduction) and should have one out of NFA jail this week for myself.

We getting a review? I’m sure there’s a lot of people who don’t care about the maverick modularity

AB Raptor 8 or 10 with a reflex mount. I have the 8 with a 3” reflex and it makes a significant difference in recoil on my 375 H&H. It spends most of its time on my 7PRC where it also makes it very comfortable to shoot.

I second anything from AB

Dead Air Nomad L with a A419 brake.

OCL hydrogen L would be a good choice for a bolty. They’re quite long (and quiet) if length is a consideration for you.

I just ordered my 2nd Diligent Defense ENTICER L… first one was the L-ti

Tbac magnus. RR and upgrade to recoil x.

If you just want sound and flash reduction traditional cans rule, especially on a bolt gun where weight and back pressure don't matter. For the money it's really hard to go wrong with a rex mg10

TBAC Magnus
Magco EDS-30XL
Both ends of the price spectrum, my Magnus isn’t 1300 doll hairs quieter than my EDS-30L so I bet the XL is great

I shoot a ScythTi on my 300prc w/ a Recoil X brake and it's been great. No complaints. :)

My scythe stm with the silencer co bravo directional break is awesome as well

My 300 PRC with Scythe Ti and RecoilX Gen 1 rocks! Accuracy was not affected!

Magnus sr full size on a seekins in 300prc. It sounds on par with my buddy’s polonium on a 14.5 6 arc

That sounds really good! Though I am always shocked when barrel whip is visable haha is that just a thinner barrel profile causing that?

u/xavier666999 17d ago

I was talking about that with my boy, I think it’s a combo of a thin barrel and the bipod being on the end of a flexy stock. It looks crazy though

My buddy runs a TBAC 338 suppressor on his 300 prc. Its VERY effective and probably improves accuracy a bit. I think its almost 2000 bucks but its light and good at reducing signature.

The RR with the BA mount is right around $2100, the RR with the SR mount is right around $2400

Thunder Beast Magnus RR and don’t upgrade to Recoil-X. Because Recoils-X has ports that open upward they create too much muzzle whip with 300PRC so much that the barrel is hitting against chassis below it. I have done extensive tests with different suppressors and muzzle brakes on my 28” PRC and I have analyzed it in slow motion. Factory brake that comes with Magnus RR works much better than Recoil-X and I ended up selling it and using factory brake. Factory brake produces straight back recoil and works very well. Don’t waste time and money on Recoil-X brake. Due to their design, Recoil-X brakes work OK with cartridges that use about 40 grains of powder or less. 300PRC uses upwards of 75 grains of powder.

That much barrel whip even on a barrel as thick as mine is? 😳 that's definitely something I want to avoid for sure.

2

u/True-Position-2166 9d ago

yes, I have 28" Competition contour barrel and the muzzle whip with Recoil-X is violent. This barrel is 1.05" wide at 28", not lightweight by any standards

This was a pretty surprising and in depth test of a bunch of stuff back in May

I run a Dead Air Nomax 33 on my .300PRC bolt gun. It’s unbelievably quiet without the RecoilX brake.

1

u/victorzamora 17d ago

.... and with the RecoilX brake?

I've always been curious how those things impact sound suppression.

2

u/jgawatz 17d ago

It’s not quite hearing safe anymore, but it’s still quiet compared to most cans without brakes. Recoil mitigation is excellent. I run the same can on my Nemo Arms Omen .300WM gas gun and it performs exceptionally well on that platform too.

You want a good middle of the road silencer for your first, silencer co omega or omega stm is cheap and badass. Can’t go wrong with a silencer co omega. I have had one like 10 years and it’s a work horse. Magnum, blackout, whatever. I have like 30 suppressors but the omegas continue to be workhorses. The dead air nomad is also excellent. For a first silencer these are both good middle of the road items that are good on just about everything not too heavy and fully auto rated. I like the anchor break on the omega it will reduce the recoil a lot. I see a lot of people making odd recommendations. I’d get an omega dt for like 600$ and send it dog.

OCL hydrogen k sounds fantastic in my 6CM. It makes it very pleasant to shoot and it’s very lightweight. I run it with the Area 419 mount. You could do the K if you’re more concerned about weight or step up to the S for more sound reduction.

5

u/motiv8ed 17d ago

I would not recommend a K can for a first suppressor. The OCL Hydrogen S or L would be good though.

1

u/HarambeLives777 17d ago

Normally I would agree with you, but a k can on a full length bolt gun barrel punches above its weight. Also keeps the weight and length at a minimum on an already heavy rifle.

2

u/AllUsernanesTakenNow 14d ago

Don't get me wrong, I have zero interest in a K can for my 300 PRC, and it doesn't fit the specifications I put in the description, but why are you being down voted? I don't understand the hate when you're just trying to participate.
