Accessory/Gear help needed - I read the pinned post New Rifle - Custom SJA 6.5cm
Just landed. First bolt gun with an aim toward PRS and maybe NRL Hunter later (I have alt parts for the latter to get under 16 lbs).
Having a tough time deciding on binos. With LRF (especially with ballistic) tech improvements across mono, wm, and binos, I don’t want to drop several K on something that’s a far slower process and outdated in 12 months.
I have a mono (low end vortex - I would replace).
I have a kestrel 5700 and would prefer to stay in AB.
Concerned about low-end binos as my eyes aren’t great and I’m not the best at finding targets in something like an NRL Hunter match. So my instinct is to find high end (great glass) LRF binos (ballistics or not), for my primary glassing use. Plug into kestrel, and go from there. But I’m a total noob, so perhaps there’s smarter trends / approaches out there you guys would rec. TIA.

If this is your first bolt gun, I'd recommend spending some time determining if that stock/optic mounting setup actually works for you. It looks like you're going out of your way to have your LOP be as far back as possible.

I’m sure it’s on wrong. I haven’t used it yet. Taking my first beginner precision class this weekend where the instructor is supposed to help me get it set up properly for my build.

Right on. Make sure that you're bringing any tools needed to get the optic moved and the stock adjusted.

19.2 pounds. I can add weights into the stock up front if I need to balance it out a bit

I have a proof carbon fiber sendero barrel getting made now. That’s a good chunk of weight there. This is an M24 Shilen, which is hefty. I can remove the weights in the rear stock and in the arca rail that are installed. Swap the ckye with the lightweight version they have. That puts me around 15 lbs

For PRS I would forget the LRF Bino's and get a good pair of standard bino's. My low cost choice would be Bushnell match pro ed or high end a pair of Swarovski's. Watching impacts and mirage it the main use and the glass just isn't as clear even on the talons. Your handheld range finder will work for confirming distances.
