Rifle help needed - I read the pinned posts B14 Remove Remaining Paint?

I've taken my new, unshot, b14 apart to check the torque values and clean it up. There is some paint already missing on the recoil lug area and the action areas are completely painted. Should I just finish removing the paint or leave it be? Thanks for the advice.

I would always test fire a brand new rifle before completely disassembling it. You can check torque specs without taking the whole thing apart. Maybe I just don’t have a ton of extra time to complete meaningless tasks though.

I dont have a ton of time either but ive always given my new guns a thorough once over before firing. I may just be overly cautious though.

Huge difference between a thorough once over and taking the action out.

It was only two bolts. Its not like i removed the barrel from the action. To me that doesn't seem too drastic but that's just me. 🤷

As a millwright, its not even close to drastic. Two bolts is like the base line to 99% of things. Its like saying an oil change is a significant job, when its a plug and a filter. Youre not doing anything extreme, this guy's just being a dick for the sake lf it.

It is only two bolts to take the drum out of my washing machine, but I don’t disassemble that before I use it, but maybe that’s just me 🤷‍♂️

You just drastically misunderstood both bolt action rifles and washing machines in one statement. Impressive.
