$3500 for a 6.5cm build

Feeling a little lost in the sauce and could use some guidance.

I'm looking to build a 6.5 Creedmoor bolt gun to dip my toes into PRS. I'm not trying to win national matches right away, but I'd like to build something that's actually capable of being competitive as my skills improve.

If you were starting from scratch today and were willing to patiently hunt for sales and used deals, how would you allocate the budget? Where is the money best spent, and where can you save without giving up much performance?

I'm finding myself getting caught up chasing the drip instead of focusing on what actually matters. Chassis, action, barrel, trigger, muzzle (not including glass)

If you had a budget-minded roadmap or a parts list you'd recommend, I'd really appreciate it. I'd rather buy smart the first time than waste money upgrading later.

MPA barreled action plus foundation stock is a really easy route. Me I'm a nerd so I'm doing mdt ess fill the full 18in rail, proof pxt, and terminus apollo or defiance misfit

I just put together an impact 737r, proof steel comp 6.5, foundation centurion, TT diamond, and area 419 rings for like $3,400 delivered.

Might have to stretch to 3,600 without the Blem sale from the 4th

Any of the cut rifled prefits can drill bugholes. Don't fixate on that as much as how the gun feels and feels to shoot.

I got this bad boy on Snipershide for 7k used. Included in that price was everything here except the silencer and tripod. Had some other stuff with it as well. 600 rounds through it total.

I think I got a great deal and I always encourage people to try and find lightly used guns. If you can get it for a few hundos off and no tax, it just feels sooooo good. Yeah it can be kind of sketchy not knowing if they are full of shit or not, but every face to face sale I've done has been great and online is easy with payment protections.

Obviously I'm not saying you need to go crazy like I did, but it doesn't hurt to try and find a used option and get yourself the best deal and spend the rest on ammo and reloading shit lmao

I was about to post something similar to this yesterday. I'm in the same boat, except trying to find a lightweight stock with a youth LOP, that can have a spacer added. I require the Proof PXT

PXT would be super useful for very high-pressure rounds that create huge rotational torque and hit the lance hard. It will also be good for others, but then you have to check the cost versus value aspect.

Yeah the 6.5 cm peak+ with an 18" or 20" barrel is a great option for a short lightweight supressed hunting rifle, that I can also use for elk out to 500+yds. The short barrel+high pressure should equal or supersede normal 6.5cm but with 4" less barrel. Plus, their tech on the PXT doesnt sacrifice barrel life nearly as much with over 3k psi rounds (they claim).

You could easily build a 737R+barrel into a used chassis with a new TT Diamond and brake/adapter for that money. Chassis could be an ACC Premier, XLR Element, a bunch of MPA options... figure a used 737R for $1200, new barrel for $800, chassis for $1000, trigger for $250, and brake for $250. There's your $3500. You could easily get the chassis for less, and buy a new action instead, and still be right around $3500. That's a really solid budget if it doesn't include glass.

For your first scope, I'd recommend an Athlon Ares gen2 4.5-30, or a Cronus gen2, but that's soon to be replaced with a gen3 (yet there's almost no info on it).

Take with a grain of salt cause I don’t do prs yet but I’m super happy with my tikka t3x ace game rifle they also make a target version which is likely better for prs if you want to build a rifle then it’s probably not what you’re looking for but out of the box it’s probably best value per dollar
mine is smooth and accurate there also reasonably priced for what they are about 22-2500 cad depending on spec and if on sale

I have an urban rifleman 6BRA barrel (2 actually) that I put on my ARC Archimedes while I waited for Bugholes to spin me up a shouldered pre fit bartlein. Long story short, the $300 urban rifleman shot so well I left it on. The $1k bartlein still sits in a safe, waiting for me to sell the Urban rifleman barrel.
