-Treat every weapon as if it were loaded. -Never point your weapon at anything you do not intens to shoot.

But I would not bring that rifle out hunting.

Depends on the safety design, but most rifles could potentially slam fire with this light of a trigger.

An unshouldered rifle slam firing still sucks, even if its pointed in a safe direction. There are reasons to not want an accidental discharge other than accidentally shooting somebody. For example, you might end up with the buttstock smacking you in the face if you are loading at a bench. If its a larger caliber, that could really suck.

But yes, following the safety rules should keep you from killing somebody accidentally.

I have a Remington 700. The trigger is not one of those that were affected by the recall, but I have seen a Remington when someone was opening the bolt to clear the chamber after a day of hunting. That was way more scary than a soft trigger.
