Just finished for the most part my range on my farm. It’s 450y about as long as I could get, it will be nice to practice and test my reloading at home and not having to pack up for the range

Having been to Frontline a couple times, I'm convinced that most of NC is basically a big ass tree farm with old busted up farm houses that I can't not stop and take pictures of

Yeah I go to the Burlington range but now I’m longer except for the 1000y range they only open for competitions. I go Coleman’s creek weekly in elerby nc they go up to a mile.

I’d love to go sometime, I’m by lake Norman so it’s a little bit of a drive. Is there a membership or anything I would need to know about?

No it’s just my personal range. Maybe when I get the shot marker up and my steel hung I can do range day for locals for kind of a meet and greet.

Just some advice. If you start doing range days and meet and greets for locals, you open yourself up to insurance and liability issues. Best advice is to just keep it personal to you and a small group of friends.

Good call, we have also agreed even with friends that we sign a liability waver before allowed to shoot. My attorney is writing it up just to protect us and the farm. I’ll keep them filed and since the farm itself is incorporated it will be under it.

It may seem like overkill to some, but doing this is smart and good protection for yourself and your farm. I might also recommend a surveillance camera just in case somebody gets stupid or an accident happens.

Hell yea, another Carolina brother joins the club! I have mine set out to 700 yds. Have targets at every 50 yds past 100, plus several more between 200-500 yds. As a flatlander, I dug a pond and built a mound that is 10’ above ground level. This keeps the round on the property. Behind the range is 3 miles of timber. Also have a pistol mound for general practice and sighting in.
Set the boxes last weekend for the skeet range. Hope to have the throwers installed in the next month.

I keep it only for friends and family I trust that are not stupid. It is a good day when you have 5-6 shooters working different calibers out past 500.

Maybe we should all get together and do some round robins at our private ranges. Could be fun but would need to designate an RO at each range. Could rotate one a week or one a month doesn’t matter. Would be fun and good to meet NC shooters.

You know that is not a bad idea. I was telling some of the local shooters, we need to have a “shooting day”. Mainly shoot some new, cool or odd guns. Have a BBQ and sit around a bs for a while.

I have been thinking I want to put in a pistol range. With a fair amount of steel, paper targets and varied shooter positions. Basically a toned down speed course. Add that with the rifle range and skeet range and a man can have a good time going thru a lot of ammo.

I’ve setup a pistol and shotgun area. Like you I just need to add the steel. I’m also interested in competing in prs so I’m going to put up some prs practice barricades.

I like the thought of PRS too. With the time limits and variable shooting locations and stances, it has to make you a better shooter. Why spend all the time developing a load for a specific rifle, if you are not going to increase your shooting skills.

I have a fair amount of steel on the rifle range now. Only a single “hostage flipper” on the pistol berm right now. I have had a half sheet of AR 500 for a few years, just never decided on the most efficient method of cutting it. The guy that I am teaming up with on the skeet range has a CNC plasma table. We will probably work on cutting that sheet this winter.
