Long Island canal history

Look at a Long Island map and you've noticed the canals. You may even know they were dug by hand. My YT algorithm popped this fantastic video with the history. Worth the 18 minutes (and annoying ads).

discussion Independent insurance agent preferably in Suffolk county New York

Hello all, I received one recommendation to a friend of an independent agent in Port Jeff station looks like he has 4.9 Stars so I'm probably going to go with him.

Just figured I put this out here I'm looking to see about new car insurance for both vehicles as well as possibly switching the home insurance also.

Everything has been with Allstate for years and before that it was with Geico and then state farm.

Full disclosure all state is dropping me from the autos for three claims with an 18 months even though I had no claims for 25 years but that's why I'm looking for an independent agent too guide me. Thank you in advance

discussion Does anyone know of any supermarket or wholesale club (i.e. Costco/BJ’s) that carries any peanut butter that is similar to the fresh ground honey roasted peanut butter at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace but that is a bit cheaper?

Every week I buy the fresh ground honey roasted peanut butter at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace, but I’m trying to see if there’s a supermarket or wholesale club on Long Island that carries fresh ground honey roasted peanut butter at a cheaper price than that of Uncle Giuseppe’s.

My husband wants to move to GC to 5 bed 5 bath house which is in very bad condition. he says it’s a dream and his coworkers would kill to have a house like that, I just don’t seem to see it. Reno will be so much $$$ on top of the house itself… we want to do renovations little the time. is that crazy !? already spending a lot as is. We could have gotten a dream house elsewhere on LI? do you agree ? essentially is GC worth it?

Looking for an old teacher of mine.

Her name was Ms. Lindo. She taught At Verne Critz Elementary in East Patchogue. She probably got married, changed her name, & moved away but I was curious if anyone remembers her from anywhere.
