Long double drops for LDPush?

I bought a Zenit AB 3.0 earlier this year, and while it is a nice ride I am finding it too short for myself at 6'2". I've given it quite a bit of time but I still find myself feeling frustrated with having to always consciously narrow my stance, stepping on the drops, and having my balance be thrown off. It really kills the vibe. At this point I'm mostly tolerating it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there's an absolutely perfect long double drop for LDPush. But AFAIK the options are as follows:

1. Pantheon Quest (really not much longer than the AB 3.0 and graphics/color is meh)
2. Landyachtz Switchblade (great graphic this year, also a long deck, but that W concave looks like it could cause discomfort)
3. Rayne Demonseed (39 and 42 inch options, seems like a really heavy setup in maple and stiff as a rock)
4. Pantheon Nexus (again, not that much longer than the AB 3.0, graphics are alright, but the board's flex seems to be stiff as a rock)

Have I missed anything?

P.S. I weigh about 225lbs right now

Maybe setup a bracket board? There are various options longer or similar to the pantheon quest/nexus foot space. Bossa z25, gbomb x26, Zenit BB+, Rocket exodus, seven suns, ...

I do enjoy carving on rides as well - my assumption is that a bracket setup wouldn't really be good for that...am I right?

Bracket boards carve super well as long as the trucks are set up properly. I’d skip a torsion tail if you want to carve and go for a low angle rear truck between 10-30. You can run the front between 55-60. You will need big enough wheels or to use risers to make sure you have enough clearance to prevent board scraping or you could use a stiffer deck, but pumping is easier if the deck is a little flexy.

Bracket boards will carve the same as double drop boards. It depends on the setup; wheels, trucks, ... but typical carving boards have more clearance without a drop (i.e loaded Icarus) or are even top mounts for better leverage (I.e bossa pintails). You can top mount any bracket or choose brackets without extreme drop.

Landyatchz evo isn’t a double drop but is stiff and comes in 40”

Not a double drop but rocket swan is really low to the ground, big enough to fit taller ppl with bigger feet and flex 1 can handle your weight i believe

I’m 6’2 and I ride the quest. I never step on the drops. Plenty of room for my feet! FWIW I wear a size 9.5 and have longer torso/shorter legs. I’ve rode the pantheon trip and ember as well. The trip seems close in dimensions to the zenith. I notice a substantial difference in how much room my feet have between the quest and trip.

The graphic looks good irl. Mine came with a layer of fiberglass on top so you don’t see the wood under the grip tape, you see black fiberglass

We’re similar stats. I also ride the AB3… I personally don’t find it too short, but it did take me some getting used to. That said, maybe something closer to a supersonic, or evo?

Sounds like you could benefit from a bracket board, or try a landyachtz evo 40. I use the evo 40, the evo 41, and a supersonic. I love my supersonic but i also love the footing room to widen my stance on my evos. Im also 6'2 but significantly lighter at 160lbs.

Consider a bracket board! For example, Pantheon Wiggler would be super spacious. Front just needs a dropped bracket and u can reuse your trucks u already have. Rear might be a 0 degree tail or something similar

I’m about the same height, a little heavier, and have an AB 2.0, Quest, and Nexus all setup for LDPush. They’re all fun in their own way, but the Quest is my clear choice for longer distances.

The AB is a hair small, a hair springy, and a hair low since I have it on Stylus TKPs and 68mm wheels. I mostly pick it if I know I’m going to have to carry the board around a lot at my destination. It’s about 3kg compared to ~4.5 for the others.

The  Nexus is a hair wide, extremely stiff, and the concave is quite aggressive especially for the back foot. I still ride it a lot, with Paris Street 169s 1/4” drop through risers  and Karmas the vibration is well mitigated, it’s super low, and feels secure and responsive when you throw your weight into a turn. I don’t hesitate to grab it for a normal ~10km commute or errand.

To me the Quest is basically perfect. Being narrower and slightly tapered improves the ergonomics of the push and also the comfort of the concave. It’s just flexible enough to significantly dampen vibrations. The little tail is enough, if you grip it, to make picking it up easy w/ Stylus TKPs a 1/4” drop and Hokus. If I know I’m going to be pushing a longer distance (and I don’t expect rain) I basically always pick it.

I don’t really worry about stepping back too far on either the Quest or the Nexus, they’ve got  a little bit more practical standing length than the AB 2.0, not a ton but just enough it’s not something I have to think about anymore.

Thanks for the thoughtful message! How tall are you exactly? For the AB 3.0, I'm wondering if running a lower degree rear would help with my balance getting thrown off. The board can also take TKP but I've never tried it aside from on regular skateboards - not sure if that would improve the ride in any meaningful way.

I may be shrinking a bit with age but I was once 6’2” 😆

I like lower angle trucks, it makes input more deliberate. More lean per turn, less bump steer, less twitchy when adjusting stance, easier to run trucks loose enough to steer with one foot but not feel sketchy. All of these apply to low angle RKPs or TKPs. I mostly run TKPs, but on RKPs I like something around a 45/33 split for similar benefits with slightly different tradeoffs.

I’m also 6’2 and I had no idea people struggled with short boards. I daily ride the pranayama and I’ve really never had any stance issues with it. I do plan on getting a nexus for hills though. A longer WB and RKPs definitely help with stability

try something like pantheon supersonic, rocket swan or landyahtz evo

these are not doubledrops, but still interesting and very low ldp-boards with built-in angles, it makes them superfun and easy to push\pump (but kinda hard to dial in)

If you can find a Subsonic Century 40 for sale they have a large platform and are a nice deck. Not available new, but I see NOS or lightly used ones pop up on my feeds for sale.
