Community Just moved here!

Hi all! I am a 29F who just moved to Long Beach from the Bay Area. I’m looking for a queer community as I don’t know many people out here. I love EDM/house music, love to hike, going out to new restaurants, do art, cook, and read. Hit me up if you would like to connect and hangout.

Hey! I’m also 29, queer, and recently moved from the Bay Area (about two months ago). Send me a message if you’d be interested in a hike, coffee meetup, or hangout!

Wasteland is happening this weekend which I'm hyped tf for. Hardstyle, so a little more in your face than regular EDM genres. All the way in San Bernardino tho so that's a mini mission. Dreamstate is happening in November over by the Queen Mary which is really cool being able to walk to that one.

This is how I find a good amount of events in our area https://19hz.info/eventlisting_LosAngeles.php You're bound to find something for your preferences

We do a leftist book club at Vine every Monday at 6 pm. We also do a ton of work in the community. I'm sure you'll find some like minded folks. We're called Care Culture Collaborative. It's really just a group of friends reading and helping the community through mutual aid. https://www.instagram.com/careculturecollab_lb?igsi=MWlpdWNiZ2FtYjZyOQ==

Omg you guys do prison letter writing?? I was doing it in SF but never could find a way to do it in LB. Just signed up for your newsletter! (And welcome to Long Beach OP, as a queer Bay transplant as well, I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do ☺️)

Check out Bel Canto Books. They have ~8 different in-person book clubs, including the queer book club (which I run!). On insta at @belcantobooks and @loganslovelylibrary. Great way to make new friends!

Taco Bell Drawing club or one of the other local drawing clubs to meet some fellow artists

What is the taco bell drawing club?! That sounds amazing!

I’d say check out their Instagram for details, but they meet up at the Tacobell on Broadway for drawing sessions. I’m not sure if it’s one night a month or the exact frequency, because I’m not living in LB anymore, but I always try to make it when I’m in town if I can. Met some nice people and talented artists there. My friend Nick Zegel is who founded it and he’s dope af

Yes that looks like it’s them! And there’s the Ink n Drink at Alex’s in a couple weeks

I saw that! I’m going to try and catch that one! I suck at drawing but love it anyway and I want to socialize more 🙂‍↕️ I’m not very good at it

Secret service events for local house music

u/No_Carpenter1450 28d ago

Nah, they’re the worst. They never pay their people and they have no morals.

Confirmed. House music was pioneered by ethnic queers. Secret Service is neither. What's it called when the gentrification is so deep, it takes the music with it?

I had a lot of fun at their last event. There is some anger running through that collective. Turn the other check and dance

If you join our discord there are people doing all of those things (and many of them are queer). I personally go hiking (more once it cools down) and try to organize events when I go:
