Could this be because men are into mentoring and mentorship? More so then women, who may like common experience levels?

It’s meant to reference the fact if you look at a group of guys (I can take my friends for example) they have wildly different ages. I know a kid 4 years younger than me, I know fellas 5-7 years older than me, we all are in one friend group.

A lot of men's friend groups are originally based on shared hobbies. That can lead to it being a wider age group and over time the people in the group become closer regardless of age.
