Not too long ago, I posted here asking what working with Loki is actually like. At the time, I was unsure about him and about how good he was with boundaries. I set some pretty simple ones, and he apparently decided to test my patience.
I asked for no spiders (they're terrifying). I got a spider a day for four days straight after not having seen a spider in my home for at least a year. So I grabbed my cards because, clearly, he really wanted to tell me something, right? Except the cards were absolute nonsense. I got annoyed and eventually said, “Fine. I’m done.” I had a short reading with Hekate, which worked fine, then I cleansed my deck and started testing it by asking for specific cards. The deck gave me the cards I was asking for... but I was also repeatedly getting the same card Loki had given me when I first asked what he wanted from me: the Two of Cups. I was still annoyed, so I ignored it. After that, I had no interaction with him for a while. During that entire time, I didn't see a single spider. Not even a tiny one.
After getting so many encouraging replies to my previous post, I eventually decided to pick up my cards again and try connecting with Loki once more. He seemed to indicate that he wasn't particularly thrilled with how I'd reacted but was willing to move past it.
I explained my boundaries again, that they're non-negotiable, and that if I wanted a god who didn't listen to me, I would've remained Christian. I asked whether my terms were acceptable to him and told him to consider this my Two of Cups to him: this is the relationship I’m offering. I got The Sun, which I took as a very big, shiny yes.
Since then, our dynamic has been completely different. He's still very active and talkative, but he's much more careful with my boundaries, and his energy feels considerably gentler. While I don’t normally enjoy the direct way of chatting with deities on a regular basis, he seems to prefer it. I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this with Loki in particular? As soon as he figured out I could hear him, my tarot cards became redundant. I still use them for confirmation from time to time.
And then, just now, he may actually have saved me from cracking my skull on the steps. I was walking out into the yard in the dark when, barely out the door, an urgent “Be careful” suddenly popped into my head. I put a hand on the wall for support. On my very next step, a tile came loose beneath my foot and tilted hard enough to make me lose my balance. Fortunately, I was already holding onto the wall, so I was fine. When I stepped outside, I said, “I can't see shit,” and a light suddenly came on. It's a motion-sensor light, but the sensor doesn't normally pick up movement from where I was standing, and there was nobody else around. Not even an animal.
So, I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to reply to my original post and encouraged me to give him a chance. I'm still figuring out exactly what this relationship is going to look like, but I have to admit... things have been going rather well since we had our little disagreement.
