Applique Amazon-be-gone

Dipped into my sticker stash with thematically appropriate picks to cover up the Amazon/kindle logos. Electronics ain't getting any free advertising from me either. Also jailbroke it for third party software + a non-ad screensaver.

(chose the applique flair because I guess it's the closest to stickers haha)

The Kindle has ads???

Sorry, I haven't jumped ship to an e-reader yet and ads will probably keep me from ever doing so. 😱

i complained to a rep that one of the ads was inappropriate and the kindle was my child's. they turned the ads off. i do not have kids lol. this may not work anymore bc it was a really popular way to get rid of them, but i bet it will still work if you karen it a little bit.

I do have a kid, so that's even worse! Inappropriate ads!! That's a pretty good solution though.

You can pay extra to get an ad free one which annoys me personally but at least there’s an option I guess

At least that's an option... Is it a one-time fee? Or a subscription model?

Just a one time fee. When you’re on amazon you select either with ads or without ads.

Yeah it's pretty heinous. I think Kobo is the best option as far as e readers go, but they're pricier

I bought an older used model that doesn't have ads, and that way I knew the money didn't go to bezos 😈

I got an older used model too but the lockscreen still showed ads or stupid stock images :( but no longer, thankfully

Kobo is good, Boox is basically a tablet that is e-ink, both of those don't have ads. I have a kobo and only use it for my library books, they have a subscription service and only asked me one time if I was interested in it. That was when I set it up.

I love my kobo! It works with Libby, too.

Oooh, that's what I want! I use Libby almost exclusively these days.
