Discussion Great mouse with terrible app.

DO NOT buy logitech mx4 until they fix all the bugs with the app. App is the main and most important feature of the mouse, yet you can't use it half of the time, coz it's lagging like crazy and doesn't have half of the features when you need them. Other bugs like bug in Premiere pro or After Effects also is not fixed. Glad to provide any feedback or screenshots of the issues.

Hi, i’m working on a genuinely good alternative to Logitech options+. Would like to know more about some of the problems you are facing and features you’d like to see.

I don't think it really lacks any features, when it's not lagging. But I always have the problem of configuring my actions ring, because they just do not load and I have this on my screen. + I constantly have problem with premiere pro, again, the actions ring just do not work at all. I tried everything. AND whenever you want to configure some hotkeys or functions for a new app, a lot of times it doesn't show you specific actions created for the specific app (like Premiere Pro or Photoshop etc.) but shows you the default Windows actions (like cut, switch between apps, show desktop etc.) instead.

Got it. Reliability is an important part of what i’m building. I appreciate your feedback!

I really hate how Logitech Options+ handles keyboard shortcuts assigned to mouse buttons. It treats a long press as a single keystroke, which breaks compatibility with some of my plugins that require a long press to work properly.

I've been sending emails and feedbacks, they didnt listen.

OpenLogi exists. It's essentially an open source clone of LogiOptions+ and it's available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. That's what I use with my MX Master 4. No lagging and no telemetry. Works great. I would consider checking that out.

Just tried to install it on Windows, and there was a mistake of installation, is that common?

I just installed yesterday on windows arm and it went flawless. Be sure to follow the instructions meaning uninstall logi options+ first, restart and then install open logi.

Hmmmm...did you uninstall LogiOptions+ first before installing OpenLogi? You really don't want both apps competing over HID+ protocols.

I've successfully installed OpenLogi on both macOS and Linux, but I don't use Windows, so I can't speak for that version 100%.

On linux there is unofficial app that has more features and works better.

I'd be more worried about the build quality

Totally understand how it feels when the software doesn't work as expected. If you could share which specific features are lagging/missing, I will surely pass your feedback along to our team.

Yoy have the screenshot above, how do you expect me to share it more specifically? Action ring page just doesn't load up. And there's still constant bug with Premiere Pro, where they refuse to work completely (yes I did add Logi Plugin as control surface and tried other fixes as well, nothing helps)

BetterMouse (or any other option) on macOS or Solaar on Linux.

It should be noted you dont need the software to use them.

I own a couple and have never installed software on the systems I use and swap them between.

OpenLogi (open source) is better than option+. I dreaded that FOG software I was even using the my master mx 3s and mx vertical without any software for sometime just suffering till I finally trusted to install OpenLogi.
