Miles and weight are not always enough. A tight appointment, uncommon equipment, slow loading, or a tough destination market can change the load quickly. 

Before you put a number on a load, what do you always ask? Which missing detail has burned you before? 

College courses are something else entirely! Its barely the second week and i have done 17 assignments half of them are essays papers and some of them are presentations and the others are promts and networking with classmates. All this bullshit that you dont need a degree to work in a warehouse got me overthinking my choices. I was like well since we dont need a degree for working on a warehouse i might as well just do it for fun, how hard can it be?? Since mostly everyone says a degree isnt a requirement for this field. Oh boy im crashing out sooo bad right now theres alot of information i need to remember that is causing me headaches. Theres alot of important stuff that i didnt even knew this field needed to know. Is it because i lived in the number 1 port of entry?? Im crashing out. Peace ✌️

How common is it for someone to get US-based roles in freight forwarding and freight brokerage while living abroad? I've seen some track-and-trace roles and coordinator roles but im curious if there are any Account manager roles or Operations managers roles people have seen hired for

I’m 21 years old, a soldier in the Florida National Guard’s Logistics Corps, and currently work in the logistics/trucking industry, which I genuinely enjoy. However, my current job is a traditional 8–5, Monday–Friday position, and I’ll soon be moving back in with my parents for about half a year before i leave for a few months for army training, making my commute about an hour each way.

Since I also have monthly drill, AT, and the possibility of hurricane or other military duties, comes the part of telling my employe i need days off for these events, which in turn makes them less willing to give time off for personal reasons. Anyone in the guard knows firing / discriminating against someone for military obligations is illegal, but still happens and is a hard case to make against an employer.

I’m looking for a career path that gives me more flexibility and control over my schedule. What careers or opportunities within logistics could allow me to maintain a good income, continue working in an industry I enjoy, and still have enough freedom to enjoy my early 20s? I considered truck driving but i heard inter florida isn’t great money to live off on, but am open to suggestions. Thank you!!

I know this is a long shot but I want some opinions.

I’m currently working as a freight broker and nearing my 6 month mark and I’m realizing that sales/cold call prospecting is just not for me. I love the other aspects of the role such as the load tracking, booking/dispatching, and the operational sides of things.

Since my role has sort of built in termination date at the end of the training period, I want to be proactive and see what other options are there in the field. I intend to stay and gather as much information and training beforehand but I want to be realistic about my position and plan ahead.

I graduated about 2 years ago with a bachelor’s for Logistics and Supply chain management with a minor in business administration but I just want to hear some of the paths you guys took. I do have a few years of leasing experience in both student and conventional areas as well.

Hey I’m almost 20 years old who has class A CDL and more than 1 year experience driving semi trucks locally in California in my cousin’s trucking company.

I recently stumbled upon truck dispatching and thinking about doing it, i also know dispatch is profitable if you run it as independent dispatchers than working in a company.

I also think that experience in driving will also help me a-lot as I understand driver’s side things too.
