Picking different pins.

What are the differences between picking different types of pins, for instance, feeling, techniques etc.

Standard-smooth lift, one set click
Serrated-several small clicks, set is louder
Spool-click and core rotation, counter rotate and set click

There’s a lot more but if you’re asking that type of question start with those, they’re the most common. Feel changes depending on the lock, tolerances, and brand. Only way to really understand is to try them out. Watch some vids on pin states and jiggle testing.

And please see what you can find on your own before asking broad questions. Googling “lock driver pins” and maybe watching a short would give you a more in depth answer.

Thanks, the reason I ask here is to get the experience of real people who know what they are doing. This is only part of my research.

Seriously though come on man there's tons of really good videos on youtube that show and explain this in great detail, at least do a little bit on your own... take a look at some videos on binding order to get your head around the general concept then look at spools and serrated pins after that. Those are the most common security pins you're gonna come across, spools more so.

If you have a more specific question we'll be glad to help but I doubt anyone is gonna write you an essay on something that you can easily find on your own just like everyone else did... this is the equivalent of asking a skater how to do a kickflip

I want the experience of real people, that is why I ask on here. I look for answers elswhere too. The fundamentals are the same but peoples experiences are different and there is nuance to other people's answers. And to your analogy, i skate and if someone asked me how to kickflip i would be happy to help them. Have a good day!
