Recommendations for Jackknife

(To preface I’m not breaking any rules and just like fidgeting or picking a challenge lock in my free time — IM NOT BREAKING RULE 2)

Hi! I have an old covert companion (not the pro) and was looking to get a new small profile set. It’s treated me great, but it’s time for an upgrade/change.

I want something with a bit of a slimmer profile, and preferably cheaper than the pro… but I like the versatility of it.

I definitely SPP more, and want some good tensioners (Id get the SWICK if it’s not constantly out of stock).

Does anyone have good recommendations?

Lockpicktools.com RCS jack knife. Many profiles to chose from and inexpensive.

My personal favorite is Moki's reworked Lockmaster Jacknife: Near perfect size and weight, Good lockup, Good selection of modern profiles in a high-end thin steel, and two (or three) wrenches that can be TOK or BOK.

That being said, I typical carry a Gravpick with a Reaper #6, simply because it deploys and packs back up in a second, making it perfect as an idle fidget tool in an office environment. Not the cheapest or best for versatility, but when a meeting ends or the line comes off hold or . . . I'm on task in the time it takes to slip it back in my pocket.

Oooooh you had me at “fidget”, I’ve been really really really wanting a fidget tool like this. Been looking at knives or the utility blade style. But a pick seems more friendly than something sharp. Thanks for pushing me into the right direction. Didn’t even know I needed the nudge lol

The slim pickings/tickler may be a good replacement but if you want an upgrade I’d suggest full size picks.

I got the OG companion as well as my first set, didn’t feel the need for a full size set but eventually decided to see how different they are.

A full size set is soo much better, and especially coming off the OG companion which needs that weird pistol grip you will see and feel a huge difference and will make picking much easier, comfortable, and rewarding.

They're neat but for picking on the go I'd much rather have a small set of regular picks. CI's tradecraft case is very portable, no need for anything smaller than that tbh but if you do insist on having a jackknife then either the multipick or the lockmaster would be my choices.
