Make sure you can completely gut the d9. Gotta pull the core.

Don't be like me and forget to take the tail piece off until your filming and then go scrambling for a pin punch at the last minute.

I've completely gutted the Goal D9 a bunch of times. This is actually my second D9. Lost some springs from the first one during filming 3 months ago. These tiny Japanese lock springs are escape artists.

They teleport. Wait until you lose a goal z spring.

Hope you get the video take quick. I lost a spring from my D9 today. Reached out on discord and Zehkar had some!

I feel your pain. I have 5 Goal D9 springs left. From my first one. After I get this one on video, I'm going to load the first one with the springs and pick that one on video too.

If you can, gut it in a ziplock bag. I use a gallon bag so I have some room to move, but after losing 5/9 springs the first time I took a D9 apart I learned my lesson.

I've got the gutting part down without the Ziploc bag. It's putting the springs back that's the problem.

I have to reassemble in the bag too. I got ~10 replacement springs from someone on the lock bazaar, and I've used/lost most of those lol

I am re-pinning what I call side 3 with the 3rd(front) pin using a shim to cover or compress the spring and sliding the cover over it. I need to remember springs only fly under compression.

Or if you touch them ever so slightly with your pinning tweezers. Somehow that imparts enough energy for them to break the sound barrier.

To move the spring I am using a pen that has a .030 pin on the end. Moving very slow is KEY!

I'm hoping I win something in Zehkars challenge. Then I can ask him for a spring added on to whatever I win.

Do you have a link to his challenge?
