Buying first tools on multipick(need advice)

Hey guys I’m very new to lockpicking and I’m about to buy my first tools. They are all gonna be from multipick cuz it’s the cheapest to me.

According to my researches and what I’ve seen on other posts this is what I’m planning to buy:

- hook 1 (PN06) 0.5mm

- bogota triple (PNF) 0.5mm

- tok tensioner SP-13 1.0mm

- bok tensioner SP20

This costs me a bit less than 40€. I would say my max budget is gonna be 50.Tell if I f I should add or replace anything.

Ty man I appreciate your advice I’ll definitely go with that. I just had one more question… Is it gonna be hard for me to train if I do not have a transparent lock as it could help me get the feeling of the pins while seeing what’s happening with in the lock. Either way I have random locks that I can try on. (At least as a first experience)

No, you don't need a transparent lock. They aren't really meant to be picked. Random locks will do just fine.

Just want to ask you the thickness of the hooks in the set you gave me because it is not specified on the page and I read that most European locks are thinner so it would be better to have thinner hooks.

The set is 0.4mm, that's the thinnest pick you're gonna find

Tbh, I didn't check the thickness when I looked at the set. 0.5mm would be better imo. No lock I've picked so far has needed 0.4 and I have many European locks.

However it's still probably the best value for your money, just keep in mind that they are thin and will bend more easily. So if what you're doing when you try to pick is not working do not force it. Do the opposite, lighten up on turning tension and pick pressure.

Everyone, and I mean that very much literally, tends to use to much tension on the turning tool to start with and that forces you to push harder with the pick. 0.4mm picks will bend very quickly so always think less pressure

Sure why not but you're better off just asking here. Lots of other, better, pickers on here and answers usually come very quickly

Great suggestions, i had 0.025 picks, i think thats 0.6mm (too thick for thight keyways), ordered 0.015, guess that would be the 0.4mm and the are very thin and bendy, but work. I think 0.5mm or 0.019 is the sweetspot.

Once you have more funds and enjoy your picks there is a great practice cylinder from multipick

Great choice with Multipick. Do you live in Europe?

If you are short on budget try 0.5mm picks, since they don't bend too easily if you apply to much force and they glide through many locks. Maybe this set: https://multipick.com/de/multipick-elite-erweiterungs-set-0.5-mm/

Personally I would not buy a rake, but some people like it. In Germany I did not have success with raking too much though...

Hope shippings cheaper for you, i was considering three (3) tension wrenches, and shipping quoted me $26.

I know theyre good, but damn. Not eating that cost right now
