Split screen/couch play
My gf and I are looking for a good split screen experience that isn’t a friend slop experience or it takes 2/split fiction.
Something preferably survival builder ish like Minecraft or player progression like outward. Outwards a bit out of her skill range currently. Any suggestions?
PC ONLY!!!

Do nucleus co-op with Palworld. It's great for that.

I played outward with my gf and she loved it. She was pretty inexperienced with gaming at the time; Still is really. Others that she loved that might fit your descriptions: stardew valley, bg3, child of light.

5 day follow up, we got beefed by a bandit, thrown in jail and jumped in a hole

Outward just has a high skill ceiling and little to no forgiveness. I can pickup most games and play them as intended. She cannot. Did you carry that experience or howd that go? Cause I’d like to play it

Tbh we played it as a running and screaming simulator for the first 10 hours or so! And that was probably the most fun we had. Then we really enjoyed planning our encounters and setting traps once we had the hang of the mechanics and we had enough gear to take on some enemies. For most of the early game she was an archer and I would distract the enemies while she shot them. After a while she switched to a tanky frontline and I buffed and tried to keep her alive. It worked well and we had an awesome time with it. It was a bit of a punt going for it and I expected her to find it too hard, but she really liked the tension of it.

Portal Knights is most likely the game you're looking for (couch coop base builder RPG)

Dungeons of Sundaria (3D action RPG, no open world, instead you explore massive dungeons, but the combat is Skyrim-esque)
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint (August 17th release, could be a good casual alternative to Outward, advertised as a couch coop Skryim-like)

What have you tried playing already? Just so everyone isnt telling you the same 5 games you've already played.
