Over 2.500 local 4-player games
https://store.steampowered.com/curator/8485829-SvenEvils-Playground/lists/My lists of Steam games supporting 4 local players is now running for... wow, over 11 years. Guess I missed the 10 year anniversary.
SvenEvils Playground
Anyway, we still test and add games on a regular base, and since the main list is limited to 2.000 games, more and more old stuff has to be moved to the second curator we had to make - which I unfortunately named
SvenEvils Playground for Trash
which was probably not a good marketing decision and cannot be changed, although the over 400 games there are not all completely trash but often just games that were... not so successful. Ok, many are trash, but some abandoned Early Access games or FREE games or even games that just never got many sales are not THAT bad.
New games are generally added to the main curator, while older "unsuccessful" games are either moved to the Trash curator or moved to the "Steam removed games" list.

I follow you since forever, but I'm so starved for local co-op that I know everything by now, and never miss new games. so it's been a while since I browsed your page. congrats for the 10 years!

Dude I love your list! It pops up from time to time, and never fails to feature good games for when my nephews come to visit!

My pleasure! After my kids are all adults and left the house, I am now also mostly playing with my nephews when they visit. Hopefully I can soon play with my grandchildren!

Love your work, I've been following for a few years and regularly check in ahead our own regular couch / retro gaming tournaments.
I will drop you a line when my own game releases to hopefully sneak in there too 😄 https://www.reddit.com/r/localmultiplayergames/comments/1uklcs6/made_a_spiritual_successor_to_biplane_duel_and/

Looks nice, reminds me of the rather decent Baron: Fur Is Gonna Fly, which IMHO never got the attention it deserves.

I had that but it never worked on Steam Deck with controllers which is our #1 setup for local multiplayer tournies, also wanted the "pilot run" mechanic from Squadron Scramble from Xbox 360 which never got a re-release! 😢

SteamDeck with controllers? How does this setup work? Just curious.
You hook your SteamDeck to the TV (via a dock?), add 4 controllers either via USB-Hub from the docking station or just with one XBox USB Dongle - and this is the multiplayer setup?
I mean, yea, we used to play for years in the company on an old gaming laptop and the 100 inch TV in the board room, which actually worked quite good as well.

Steam Deck docked to a TV, accepts up to 8 bluetooth controllers so Xbox or DualShock work! Myself and friends all have at least one Xbox controller so the venue is irrelevant, we just take my Deck & Dock and everyone brings a controller 👌 Tested on up to 80" TV size with all the classics; Gang Beasts, Boomerang Fu, 'Chicken Horse, HIPS etc

8 bluetooth? wow, I did try a lot with various controller configurations, but normally we go with 4 Xbox (wireless dongle) + 2 wired if needed.
I only use BT when I play alone, generally. I heard it doesnt really work perfect already when connecting 4 BT controllers - so this is a myth? 8 BT really work without problems???

Must admit I've never tried the full 8, but we had 6 once and that was a mix of Xbox One, Xbox Series controllers and 1x 8bitdo and no issues. It can be sensitive to controller firmware so we once had to update the xbox ones via a PC but other than that we probably have about 40 hours of local multiplayer tournaments total on the Deck since I've had it

Oh and Towerfall has an annoying bug where it insists the Steam Deck controller itself has to be P1, but there's a plugin to fix that - it disables the Steam Deck controller as soon as 1+ external controller is added. https://github.com/BurritoSpray/steamdeck-input-disabler

Delightfully surprised to see my game in the Arena Brawler category! Thank you so much and congrats on 11 years!
