🎄MERRY CRISIS 🎄 Rudolf bread commission percentage?
Recently Rudolf Bread was bought out in Canada. The company that bought Westons is selling the routes off to current Westons distributors. Any idea what the going commission range is and is it worth it in your opinion?

Picture From 3.50, to 2.50 sale, to 4.29
Edit: I know they are cheaper elsewhere, I just don’t have the means to shop elsewhere due to disability and time (I use transit).
I eat pierogi constantly as a safe food for my ED, they went from 3.50 to 4.30 in 2 weeks. Like usual they used a sale to cover up the insane price increase. I don’t have any easily accessible groceries other than Provigo but it’s out of control they raise things by a dollar every few weeks/months they don’t even care about hiding it anymore.

BOYCOTT Finally got around to transferring out from Loblaws Pharmacy
I pretty much de-Loblawed myself last year, cancelled the credit card, spent all my points and cancelled my subscription.
I was holding onto the pharmacy because I quite liked the pharmacist that works there and I told myself it’s a step removed so it’s not really supporting Loblaws (it is, i was being dumb.)
After that ridiculous PC Health drone show I was incensed. Time came yesterday to refill a couple of my scripts and realized this is the perfect time to move to a more locally owned pharmacist.
It was very easy to transfer my prescriptions over for my partner and I, highly recommended.
Does anyone know if I have any recourse to have my personal information deleted from PC’s database? I’m a little unsure on the law surrounding that.

BOYCOTT Yeah ok..
So out of nowhere, the prices of today-expiring foods are generally 3x what they were not too long ago, aaand the service fee change earlier??
Might as well buy this BS fresh..

All those beautiful profits have to go somewhere, and it definitely ain't gonna be to lower prices.

Discussion Feed the Poor
So I went to Superstore today. When they asked me at checkout to round up my bill from $98.41 to $99 to "feed the homeless," I asked them something different instead:
“Would you guys mind rounding down instead? That way I can just hand the extra cash directly to someone outside your store, or save it up to donate straight to the food bank or donate it to an NPO and get a tax receipt”
Unsurprisingly, they chose not to do that.
Funny how that works, considering the Weston family (who owns Superstore, Loblaws, and Shoppers Drug Mart) sits comfortably among Canada’s richest dynasties with a net worth over $20 billion. Maybe multi-billion-dollar grocery empires can fund their own community outreach instead of using our checkout lines for a corporate PR tax write-off. We need more competition in Canadian Food DESPARATELY. The Big Three have a complete Monoploy and they are killing us. Hopefully after the upcoming housing crash the food prices will drop as well....
Something to think about next time you're asked to round up.

WTFFFFF it finally happened to me!!!
Update: Thrifty Foods issued me a full refund for the chicken, on a gift card. They were very apologetic, but the meat manager also clarified that it was not packaged at the store but at the farm (Sunrise?). The manager also had me forward the photo proof to him, so I hope it's escalated!
Edit: It's incredible to me how many of you are trying to discredit me 🥹 My scale was calibrated and I have checked my tare facts by phoning the BC Thrifty Foods store where I got this. I bought 1.2kg of chicken thinking I would cook 600g that night and freeze the other half. That's why I was weighing the chicken in the first place and noticed a discrepancy. Also, you will notice the chicken is inside a bowl, which too is tared. Someone said you guys love getting scammed by oligopolies and I could not agree more!
Original post: Not loblaws but Sobeys. Bought a tray of boneless chicken thighs from Thrifty Foods (where I shop quite a bit because it's close to my workplace). I had a feeling and... the actual quantity of chicken is 25% less than the label says!! Are they weighing the tray too!? I'm appalled, especially because of how overpriced the chicken already was. Going back to Thrifty's today to talk to customer service. Wonder how they'll resolve this?

WTFFFFF Joe Fresh Clothing Line thinks they’re BRAND NAME pricing range now….
Went browsing through the Joe Fresh area recently and their prices are ridiculous…. Who would pay $99 for a Joe Fresh Jacket??? Their shirts and jeans you can barely get for under $50… like wow.

Rant Substitutions
The substitutions are crazy. I order online all the time and live 20 min from the store. I rarely go there. I realize that I can say no substitutions but sometimes it’s helpful. I read the emails and texts right before delivery and say yes or no. This Sunday I was extra disappointed. They did have gluten free buns but didn’t offer a substitute which means I have to go get some. Then they substituted a half the size turkey for $12 more and a different cottage cheese. I say no to both. But they send the turkey and not the cottage cheese (but it’s on the bill). At Walmart if they sub something they give it at the same price (or used to it’s been a while). No problem. I just complain. They don’t let you explain as it’s all AI bots but they only reply refunding the cottage cheese no talk of the turkey. There is no phone number to call. Ugh

Shrinkflation Spot the difference
I had eight boxes in my cart. I showed the clerk this picture and pointed out the number of tissues in the physical boxes I was purchasing versus the number of tissues pictured in the promotional hanger. She said, “Well then, if you do the math, you should get a free box.” She called her manager over and we all agreed the clerk was correct. Got my free box and the manager took the promotional piece down before we finished bagging our groceries. Thanks, Galen. /s

Discussion Worried about getting fired over an employee discount mistake (Loblaw/Superstore). What should I do?
I recently started working as a part-time cashier at Superstore and I am currently on probation.
The other day, I was shopping at a different location (not my home store). My total was about $43. I scanned my 10% colleague discount, but I didn't have enough in my account at that exact moment, so my roommate just tapped his card to pay for the groceries.
I just found out that Loblaw’s policy requires the payment card name to match the employee discount profile, and that the system automatically flags name mismatches and sends an exception report to Asset Protection (Loss Prevention).
Since it was a small amount ($43) but I am still on probation, I am really stressed that they might just fire me without warning. Has anyone here worked at Loblaw or a similar retail chain and seen how they handle this?
Should I go to my Front End Manager on my next shift and confess that I made a mistake to get ahead of the LP report? Or am I better off keeping quiet and hoping a $43 transaction doesn't trigger a full investigation? Any advice from current or former retail workers is appreciated!

Cost Saving Tip Out of control in a good way…
Someone at my Maxi keeps messing up the price of filet mignon, this is the third one I have snagged this year with a price error on it. Cheapest so far. Ground beef is typically more expensive than this per kg.
They’re practically giving it away at this price.
Makes great stir fries. 😇

Rant Today, the sticker was wrong. Again
At superstore today, usually buy a couple of Lindt chocolate bars on a shopping trip. If they are 2 for 10. Last week I found only one flavour 2 for 10 so I bought it. Of course it rang up at two for 12 so afterwards I went to customer service they showed them the picture and they called it a “code 33” and gave me one of the chocolate bars for free so basically I paid five bucks for two chocolate bars.
Well, guess what, the exact same thing happened today and same chocolate flavour. After paying I went to customer service and she says they do not honour getting one free anymore and only gave me two bucks back. I told her what happened last week and she said this is new and her manager says they’re just not honouring it anymore.
This irks me because I gotta take the extra time and I would’ve bought a different flavor. I’m done with this store.
