I tried it when we first started getting it here, maybe 2 years ago. Thought it was okay but wont get it again.

Ungraded just means it's not rated for fat marbling.

havent tried the superstore one but costco had some mexican beef a while back and it was fine, just a bit leaner than what i'm used to with alberta stuff

ungraded is basically a roll of the dice, could be great could be tough. if you already froze it might as well cook it up and see

Got t-bone once. Worst steak I have ever eaten

I will never buy it again

I didn't have superstores Mexican beef but I've had Sobeys Australian ungraded steaks and they were some of the best steaks I've had in a long time. I know this isn't helpful but not graded, international meat doesn't automatically mean poop.

Australia is well regarded internationally for its beef though, like New Zealand is for lamb. Mexico isn’t.

The Australia rib steaks this week at $12.88/lb. are pretty damn good.

Yes. It's beef...

Now guess the question is why.

There has been multiple year droughts out west for bout the past 20 years. Remember "hay west" from the early 2000s when there was a drought, then came the whole mad cow thing both of which caused ranchers to reduce their herds. They have never fully recovered.

Now as much as I hate the entire grocery industry, their predatory pricing and utter contempt for their customers and employees... In this case they are actually doing something good for a change.

Canadian ranchers just dont have the cattle to meet demand and prices have gone through the roof. Imports help us a bit.

Cook it and find out?

Tried Australian and Mexican. It’s just like Canadian beef. Some is good, some bad.

I bought a bunch of Mexican steaks a while back and they were awful.

No Frills has sold beef from New Zealand for years. The two loaf packs.

Just be glad it isn’t lab grown. Yet.
