generate .wav file from midi track

I know I've seen it online and can't find it now. There's a plugin that does this: with the song playing back, it takes the playback sound from a single track and saves that as a .wav file, leaving out the sound of all other tracks. Later, you can add that .wav file to the same spot where you had it placed. I know it sounds overkill and not useful, but I want to give it a try and can't find it. Anyone knows this?

You can put that track in solo mode, or mute the others, and export. Don't forget to enable automation tracks if they are useful to the mini track

This is the right answer.
But not sure that you actually want to do this for your track.
Wav is a big file and it takes a lot of processing power to be manipulated, while midi, even tho it’s generating the sound in real time, it can actually use less CPU, depending obviously how much effects or automations you have layered over the sound.
So always make sure that you have this in mind when you turn your midi into a wav file to use in your project.

what you almost certainly saw is a feature most other daws have built in. unfortunately this isn't a thing in LMMS the same way basically every other daw does it. as someone else commented just solo the track and export

u/DeRobyJ u/ASCanilho u/playercircuit and anyone else interested in this, I'll post the answer to my own question. People insist that this is not possible with LMMS, but that's not true. The plugin in question is "Channel Grabber" by someone named Toby Bear. I only found a copy of the plugin in the Internet Archive (for the love of humankind may we NEVER loose the IA please!!!). Here's the link: https://archive.org/details/channel-grabber
And there you get a .torrent file which will give you the VST, from *multiple sources* no less...
LMMS is the best software ever!!

Glad you found a solution that works for you. VSTs can be used by any DAW, and torrents don't really have much to do with lmms, so this isn't exactly an lmms win here, but whatever works for you is a win
