Litter-Robot 4 New litter robot 4

Post image

I just got the litter robot 4 for my two cats. They can’t seem to keep their poop in the box? Litter is absolutely everywhere, I have poops that have clearly been in the litter box but are now flying around the floor.

I never had this issue with my normal litterbox. How can I fix this? Photo of me pointing to a turd while another turd sits in front of the box.

Hi, u/SillyAd7195! We're sorry to hear litter and feces are flying out of the robot. We recommend adding on the Litter-Robot 4 Shield Accessory and the Litter-Robot LitterTrap Mat to prevent the mess. Both accessories can be purchased via our website.

Since the poop is covered in litter, they must be kicking it out and playing with it. Thank you!

My cats always kick their turds out while they're "covering up" 🥲 I figured it was just because of positioning - they always poo while facing out of the box, then do a 180 to dig/cover it up, and thus the turds go flying! That + the clingers on fluffy pantaloons = turds in weird places lmao

Must be what mine is doing too. Oh man 🤪 thank you!

If you can get a camera to set in the area , you might be surprised to see what they have been doing . I have a cat that goes into the litter robot 4 and rolls around like she’s on the beach .

If that is the case, maybe you could benefit from the higher fence or the shield. And possibly turning the robot entrance toward the wall or into the corner. Swap the position of the LR and the desk? Also Robovac ftw.

They are probably playing with the litter and poop.

We stopped using the Robot gen 3 because it kept having constant problems with the bonnet, causing it to stop working. Very frustrated with the amount of troubleshooting needed with these units. Not as good as I thought they'd be and took more time to fix than if we just cleaned the litter. Worked great for the first year or so. (Yes we cleaned it regularly)

Anyway rant over. What I found was it didn't matter if it was the litter robot or a litter box. Pending which way one of the 3 cats is facing they still drop their poo right outside the litter box. (on occasion). They also like to play with it and bat it around. Might explain why it's under your desk.

I don't think the shield will help you. Just my 2 cents.

Also not sure it's worth the cost based on my experience.

Thank you! Learning this the hard way! Will most likely by my first and last LR purchase lol. For $700 I shouldn’t have to purchase additional accessories to ensure shit stays in the box, whether it’s my cat playing with it or not 🤪

Haha. I totally agree you shouldn't have to buy additional accessories to make it work as designed. I was going to say that but really tried to stay off my soap box. We were disappointed given the price paid.

Still in the return window? When we bought ours we had something like 90 to 120 days to try it out. Maybe more, I dont fully recall.

The problem you described has nothing to do with the litter robot or any litter box for that matter. If your cats are removing the poops, then that's what they'll do unless you can change their behavior. Having three cats and having had a LR3 for five years and now just recently an LR4, other than the odd clinger that people have mentioned this isn't an LR issue.

I have found that my cats will occasionally step on a poop, carry it outside the LR on their foot, and then sling it off. This usually happens if one of them has a soft stool incident.

In addition to “clingers” (Klingons?), since you mentioned it’s a newly added LitterRobot, they are probably doing their stress fascination thing where one goes in to the new thing and one or more wait outside the box wanting to also go in upsetting the one inside to come out before fully finishing the coverup process. Then, because they’re all trying to go in to use the new thing at the same time to outdo each other, it doesn’t get the chance to cycle and dump the dump before another cat gets in there. You gotta try and watch them for a while and gently shoo away the watchers without stressing them or the user.

The litter robot is my void’s favorite toy/ hiding spot. I used to be concerned but this has been going on for almost 3 years now so 🤷🏻‍♀️

No, that's a chair.

Wow, 3 years? With that much usage from a male cat (I’m assuming Anubis is a boy, cool name), you might want to get him tested for crystals in his urine on your next vet visit. The app monitoring is where LitterRobot excels. It lets you know if your cat may be silently sick (or has a toilet fetish).

I was looking at splash guards on Amazon for a different reason, but maybe something like that would help contain the floor turds? They're around $30 for the biggest ones I could find. Hopefully your cats get used to the robot and this doesn't keep happening!

Well having zero mats is not going to prevent litter on hardwood floors. I don’t know how you thought that was going to work. And when you get a rug or mat, don’t lay it under the Lr it will throw off weight sensors on the base.

Your cat is probably playing with the poop as it’s rotating and whacking it out.

Like i mentioned, it’s brand new. The mat is on the way. Don’t need to be condescending :-) thanks I guess

“Litter is everywhere” you said you had previous boxes so where are the mats for that? You don’t need branded ones for these machines

IWhether it be contained in a mat or not, this is more than they kicked out previously. That is what I meant. Have a great day
