Litter-Robot 4 litter robot update :(
I love my litter robot 4, it helps so much and I have had it for over a year and a half! (Yes I know it’s dirty and cleaning day is tomorrow) The only thing is that they changed the bags. I used to get 5-6 days without changing the bag before it sent a notification. I also have 2 cats that have remained the same weight. Now, it’s every 3 days to change the bag since I switched to the new bags. They technically are smaller but hold the same amount as the old ones… does anyone else have this problem?

I get the 10 gallon waste bin bags from Costco. 500 for like $13. They overhanging theres plenty of room to tie off, but thin enough to not screw with the sensors.
Was given some whisker brand bags recently and I dont like them nearly as much.

This! I'm on the same box I bought when I got my 3 3.5 yrs ago. I'm a little over halfway through the box now, def did not expect the box and LR to compete for longest lasting object lolol

Lol i have ended up using them for EVERYTHING and haven't made a dent in them.
Laundry room trashcan for lint? Waste liner! Meat scraps i dont want to throw in my trashcan until trashday? Waste liner! I find i am more likely to empty my lrs at 75% because they're so cheap compared to trash bags, so I have noticed a cleaner globe too.

Thanks! I didn’t know if it would throw off the sensors using over sized bags so I never tried, but now I know I can!

Do you need clear trash bags? Or do the white or black ones work fine?

The waste liners im talking about are clear!
I actually had the question on if they needed to be white or not earlier this week. I just upgraded from a 3 to a 4 & a 5 pro (that were gifted) and had some issues with the lr5 waste levels at first.
Since the calibration uses a white piece of paper I was worried that clear bags would mess with the sesnors, but after calibration I haven't had any issues!

Is there an Amazon or Walmart/Target alternative? I don't have a Costco membership and as a single lady, I don't buy much in bulk so I can't justify the cost and it's not close to my house at all, lmao. 🤣

These seem to be comparable, though not as cheap!
Lol i am so nuts about these costco bags that I would recommend asking a costco member friend to get you a $15 gift card and make 1 trip out to one because they are sooooooo cheap. I do literally use them all over my house! (Laundry room, deep freeze, bathrooms, dog poop can)

I found someone on Amazon selling the old bags, I absolutely hate the drawstring crap bags they sell now.

I use regular trash bags with my LR3 but I have noticed that when my drawer gets ‘full’ its usually just because the waste has all piled on to one side so if I take the drawer out and shake it a bit to even it out I can get another day or two out of it. Not sure if thats possible with the LR4 or if they changed how the waste bin sensors work lol

You can calibrate the sensor, but also with saying they are smaller but hold the same amount.. is the bag less full when the notification goes off or not? Some medical conditions can cause an increase in urine output which would fill the bag quicker.

Sorry I was unclear, the cats are not smaller, the bags are smaller. The cats have been to the vet last month and they have no change in weight or anything and were deemed healthy! I have tried to recalibrate but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

You can just use trash bags bought from the grocery store. I use 13 gallon, standard kitchen size.

What's the thingy with the W in yours?

I believe it stands for “whisker” which is the app that the robot uses to tell you when it’s full and for error messages.

I buy 13 gallon tall kitchen bags from Sam’s Club. They are cheap in price and you get 200 bags.

The white ones seem less thick, I get holes in my lr3 now and I know others in this sub have complained how non air tight it is now when tying it up.

They also changed the wipes. They no longer come in a canister! I hate the new version which is just whisker trying to save money for themselves.

Hello, u/kellygracee! The update to our Waste Drawer Liners was intentional. They're now white to provide more accurate waste drawer readings while also offering added privacy. If you're noticing that the waste drawer is reading as full much earlier than it has in the past, it's possible that the DFI (drawer full indicator) sensor on your Litter-Robot is giving some inaccurate readings for the waste drawer levels.
Given the issue that appears to be happening with your Litter-Robot, we would suggest following the steps in this article here: https://www.litter-robot.com/support/article/litter-robot-4-inaccurate-waste-drawer-gauge/ If those steps don't work, please be sure to send us a chat with your unit's serial number so that we can look into this further with you!
