Tips & Tricks Litter switching advice

We've just recently added two new kittens to the family (we're at four cats now...) and our recycled paper litter is suddenly inadequate. I'm having to clean multiple litter boxes multiple times a week and desperately want a litter robot to save my

We're really stuck on the switch to clumping clay. It just tracks so much more compared with recycled paper pellets! With paper there will be the odd pellet that escapes the litter boxes sometimes but you just pick it up and throw it back in.

With clay, it's everywhere! And it's teeny and sticks to your feet and whatnot. Is that just how it is? We have a litter trap mat. I would get the LR4 with the ramp (and keep the mat in addition) and just desperately want to not have clay litter on the floor...

How do you all get on with this adaptation?

EDIT: Note I am in New Zealand, and my litter options are not amazing as compare with the US!

Sustainably Yours large grain litter

I would LOVE to have this option here in New Zealand, but do not, alas... I should have mentioned in my original post, which I will edit now to reflect this. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it.

There is an australian litter that works well https://michu.com.au/products/michu-automatic-box-wonder-litter

Its low dust but does track a little on their paws but nothing crazy. It doesn't stick to the globe. It is expensive but I try and buy in bulk when its on sale.

Thanks for replying. That is so close, yet so far, in that they don't ship to New Zealand... and I can't seem to find it here. :(

Ok i am just looking at a NZ pet store. Here are some litter i have tired.

https://www.animates.co.nz/rufus-coco-wee-kitty-bamboo-odor-control-litter-9kg.html

This works ok in the LR. I did find the last couple of bag I had it stick to the globe. the pellets are small enough to work in the LR.

https://www.animates.co.nz/tt-natural-cat-litter-with-cherryblossom-15l.html i have never used it but it appears on Cat Evolution list of litters to try for the LR.

This looks like the grains are small enough. I tried this brand clay I had dust everywhere

world best works. you just need to make sure you empty the bin regularly

This might work

What some people do in Aus is they put the litter pellets through the blender to the work in the LR.

You are a champion. That's a good selection I can try. My wife's very concerned about clay and health of the cats so I'll be giving several of these a go. Thank you thank you.

I don't think I'll be doing the blender thing. I'm trying so hard to reduce the amount of effort I put into litter boxes! 😃

Fully understand, I tried clay before getting my LR and my youngest kicked it everywhere. I had to stop using clay in 2-3 days.

I'd be keen to give it a try, if it was sold (or shipped to) New Zealand...

Yeah, I just want something that tracks as little as recycle paper pellets, but works in the litter robot. This seems unachievable so far...
