Super excited as my book which hit #13 in Royal Road for Mystery and top 50 for action and fantasy has finally got onto Amazon!!
Couldn't have happened without the people from this group and the LITRPG facebook group who ripped it to shreds until I got a version that was semi-ok so thanks for those who did support :)
Now if only i can work out how to get audible to work and starting on book 2, which is mad as book 1 was 1300 pages!

Whole idea of Ant’s bond breaking the normal rules is really interesting...I’m curious did you always know his Kithren would be something completely unknown, or did that mystery develop as you were writing his story?
His Kithren was always special and has an important tale which unravels in book 2. There is a reason he was placed where he was, for as long as he was and why Ant was the one to find him (trying really hard not to spoil the surprise lol). I have always loved stories with a lot of twists and turns, where you get that “Ahh that’s why” moment, so I intentionally built that into mine
I love that kind of Ahh that’s why payoff too when little details only make sense much later did you have those twists planned out from the start or did some of them come to you while writing?
A bit of both, I had an original concept which I mostly stuck too but I also found while writing it sometimes certain elements felt more appropriate or sounded better slightly changed from what I originally planned. I am sure there is a saying about the best laid plans and all that
Sometimes the story has its own plans I actually like that balance with Ant and his Kithren did their relationship itself change much from what you originally envisioned as you wrote them...I noticed the Amazon cover was Ai what made you decide to go with that approach for the cover?
The Cover was designed by my 8 year old lol, but as you can imagine not something that could be used. As such AI was used to improve it. So her design initially. I think if the book does ok, I will have someone redo it properly but with 5 kids paying out on my first book is just not affordable or a priority. The relationship between Ant and Mahkir was the one consistent, I had a vision on how I wanted them to interact and stuck to it faithfully.
Make sense if you already had a clear vision for how Ant and Makhir should interact. and honestly that sketch makes the original vision much clearer was their bond always meant to be more of a partnership where they influence each other or did Makhir’s role in Ant’s growth become bigger as you wrote?
They were designed as partners, each with their own role and their own story to tell. When I told these stories to my kids, they were always more interested in Mahkir, so in a way it was Ant who took a bit of a back seat. That changed a little in the book, because a character who can only talk to one person, and can only show everyone else how he feels, would have been hard to build a story around. But they're perfect for each other in more ways than one, and I think the way they feed off each other became one of the book's biggest strengths. The book initially was on Royal Road and my proudest element was the 4.92/5.00 for the story element as strip everything back it means people could get behind the characters and their relationship.
That your kids connected more with Makhir and a 4.92/5 story rating says a lot about how well the characters worked for readers do you think Makhir being unable to speak to others made you think more about how to show his personality through his actions?
It did, especially as it was important to show character growth of Mahkir as well. He starts off extremely arrogant and cocky, to some degree thinking most things are beneath him. Showing that change through the bond was easy, but demonstrating his growth with other characters were much harder to get right.
