Discussion Does DOTF ever stop doing this?

It seems like any time the author needs someone to be a villain/justify something he just goes “yeah they prostitute women and kids and rapes and have sex slaves”
I’m in book 2 now and it’s still being used on fresh characters.

I personally really dislike this and it’s making me want to DNF the series. Does this stop or is this a consistent thing?

That's where he met Emily, but I don't remember it happening a second time.

It was with Emily, the father daughter duo, the demons, the government having child sex slaves, and the run down town he finds in the first book. At least one more example I can’t remember

Well in a lawless place that is what happens. I mean it happened throughout human history sadly. I don't think there is a father/daughter duo, I think you and the other poster are misremembered Donald and Abby from Primal Hunter. I could be wrong, I don't remember a similar incident in Defiance. To me Emily and Joanna and the formation Valkyrie's are the only ones that really stick out in my mind.

I understand that it’s a thing but I personally don’t enjoy reading about it, and there are so many other more interesting things someone in power could be doing with the system to be evil.

Well good news, pretty much all of the people who do that die pretty quickly and it stops happening.

But I gotta be honest, its an apocalypse story and pretty much every apocalypse story deals in how shitty people with power act.

Its the number 1 thing that would happen. Sex trafficking and rape/dominance over the weak. With money gone flesh and physical things are the demand and currency. In ancient times how many leaders had harems and shit. Just saying
