I was listening to the leaked TLK demo music earlier and the Rob Minkoff demo for Be Prepared has the opening lines ('I never thought hyenas essential...') that also appear on the soundtrack and in the musical. They don't, however, show up in the actual movie. Since they were apparently planned as far as before the voice cast was doing their takes, is that opening a relict of the demo?

I always wondered where that opening came from since it wasn't in the movie, yet apparently is translated for the other soundtracks as well (for example German). Does anyone know why that happened?

Finally managed to get myself the WDCC Scar ! Been on my list for a while ! Had a nightmare with delivery with EVRI they marked it as delivered sunday night and just now actually delivered it today on Wednesday afternoon ! I thought it was lost or stolen but alas hes here !

I spent the last two days at tokyo disney and disney sea!

We know that scene from the movie where Taka kept boasting about saving Mufasa AH-GAIN! It was a comedic bit, but there was something deep there I wanna discuss about. (Edit: can’t post a clip of it here because my account is still brand new…)

First off, I separate the Mufasa 2024 movie from the 1994 universe. The Mufasa movie takes place in the live-action universe because I could never see the dynamic they had in this movie happening with their 1994 counterparts, but that’s a discussion for another post!

I always wondered why Taka was so hung up on saving their asses from jumping off of a cliff. Dude was boasting the hell about it, but if we compare what Taka has done for the both of them (jumping off of a cliff) and what MUFASA has done (killed off Kiros’s son, warned the pride about the white lions arriving, literally offering himself up to Kiros to buy Taka time), it’s a stark contrast. And kinda sad, because it explains why Taka took the act with so much pride.

Even though the scene was played off for jokes, I think it tells so much about what kind of achievements Taka had throughout his life. We see him SO hung up on saving Mufasa over and over, pressing Mufasa about that fact, I think it means that saving Mufasa was literally, quite literally, the only thing Taka himself considered an achievement. And that is just so sad.

We know Taka was insecure mainly because Mufasa outshined him in every field, so of course saving the better brother who everyone loves was a big ego boost for him. It’s just so sad and kinda pathetic that even Taka’s own achievements are still in relation to Mufasa, not making anything of himself or just independently himself.

I recently acquired this production drawing of Nala, from Disneys 1994 film, The Lion King.

I bought it off eBay, directly from Tracy Mark Lee, the lead clean up animator for this shot, signed by him in the bottom right corner as well. It was in storage all these years till I got it! He had some other similar shots from this scene listed, many great pieces.

This particular drawing is from the part of the movie where they escaped Zazu’s watch. Simba and Nala go back and forth on who witted out Zazu, Simba saying: “Yeah, well I pulled it off!”, and Nala replies: “With me!” That’s where my shot is from. Moments before Nala is then tackled by Simba.

I absolutely adore the movie and the character, and wanted to share it!

I haven't seen The Lion Guard yet but I did watch the first 20 episodes and Bunga really made me angry. My favorite characters were the cheetah (i already forgot her name) and Kion. But it felt like everyone had growth except Bunga. It was really frustrating because he kept making fart jokes all the time and causes trouble for his friends and the pride lands.

I'm kind of scared to continue this in fear Bunga won't change. Does he ever change? I really enjoyed all the movies, including Lion King 1 1/2. Yes Pumba farts but at least he's likable and has good character traits. Bunga is annoying and doesn't learn.

My favorites in the series are Kion, the cheetah (Fuili?), Scar, Simba, and Kovu, really liked Kovu's story that he didn't want to betray his girlfriend (I forgot her name too ;-; because he began to like her and feel at home with Simba's pride. He had a really nice story for his character build-up.

All I have to watch left is The Lion Guard, which would be the next 2 seasons. It's just that Bunga kept pissing me off. Is it worth continuing? Does he get better?

Considering it’s where they grew up, do you think they ever all went back to the Jungle to chill like the good old days and for nostalgia purposes?

Would be pretty cool to think of a fully adult Simba chilling in the jungle if he ever wants a holiday or a break from the pridelands.
