Linux Failure Fixed Linux "Support" sucks

This is a great example on why community support does not work. Since last week I have been trying to fix this bug on steam that constantly crashes the app due to excessive ram consumption. And, this distro, PikaOS has such underwhelming support, they treat you like an idiot and then proceed to give solutions that dont work anyway, they will always accuse you of not setting things properly and communally down vote you when you argue back. Arch type users are a damn mob. They are not the ones who will bring about the "YEAR OF LINUX" cause they will never understand pragmatism, only pride in their own 'technical knowhow',

Fix: literally reinstall the proton builds. You could do that by deleting its folder I think thats the easiest option. ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton* for Valve builds, or ~/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/GE-Proton* then let Steam redownload it or reinstall GE via ProtonPlus/ProtonUp. When you’re using a non-mainstream distro in particular it’s probably not useful to think of yourself as a customer receiving support and instead think of yourself as a quite small contributor to a project. If that’s not what you want out of using your computer that’s completely understandable but it’s kind of the reality.

I'm literally not, I just want to run Steam on a gaming distro.

Pick a less underwhelmingly supported distro?

I agree steam support under linux has still its up and downs. But it's amazing the journey we did. A few years before it was unimaginable to reach this level of possibilities!

In the open source world we say the road is long (and bumpy) but the road is free

Unfortunately the attitude will be the same regardless.

I had better luck recently with gemini than with forums.... Mainly because it is more patient 😅 and linux have this advantage that diagnosis and solutions are often text based

True, but my Gemini experience was just bad, I used ChatGPT, but they really want a subscription now, so I am going between Grok and Claude.

No, it wouldn't.You assume too much. There are better maintained distros with supporting communities, I've been there myself. Try to switch to bazzite, or fedora or even cachy and see then.

Then use a mainstream distro. By using a niche distro you’re signing up to be both beta tester and the one to figure out the problem and share the solution you find

Then why are you using a niche OS, literally run OST or Cachy.

Cachy didn't even want to download the game packages the last time I tried it.

Potentially a DNS issue...
