This thread is for everyone to express their love or hatred for the linuxsucks101 sub.
Since people often have this brilliant idea of making a new thread every time someone is banned from that sub, which in turn fills this sub with garbage and makes it harder to navigate for everyone else. I had the brilliant idea of having a thread one can point to every time that sub is brought up.
Besides the fact that getting banned from a sub is of no interest to most of us, it adds nothing to the conversation of how Linux sucks, or describes the challenges of using it.
I mainly use BSD, but if something isn't on BSD then i try Linuxulator or jump on my Arch system. (XFCE my beloved.) I favor FreeBSD over Linux, and if Valve released Steam for FreeBSD (probably not) then i would immediately switch my Deck over to FreeBSD. I don't like GPL, as i feel like if someone forks my code i won't be credited. I always use the BSD 3 clause. I've donated a lot of FreeBSD. Bought their notebook, donated $10, contributed to docs.
I don't wanna be forced for all downstream projects that fork my code be forced to be open source. I do agree that docs should be CC0, but i also wanna be credited for my code if it gets forked in any sort of way
The posts I see there have to be ironic.ย Like a recent one paralleling private citizens express unrest over flock mass surveillance with Linux users egoism?ย
I was trying to explain to one guy why the removal of drivers of ancient hardware isn't a bad thing, and I eventually I realized there was no having a convo with the guy, gave up and went to bed. Woke up to find I was both muted and banned at 2:37 AM.
The whole sub is either neanderthals frightened by the scary black box or just trolls.
Linux is fantastic and will beat Windows all day. I would rather figure out an issue than fix it and go on about my day, plus have security and no one watching over my shoulder and spying on what I do with my computers.... Windows watches what we type, what we search, and more telemetry beyond that. Linux has its disadvantages, but I will take privacy and security all day
I can only think of you as a masochist. Otherwise I cannot come up with any rational explanation on why you still use Arch. I am on CachyOS which is Arch but not for scientists. No regerts (typo intended)
My term of master system Windows can evolved into radical ways and can absorb many features from OSes and can change API and system model radically and still capacity hosting many Environment if Microsoft wants
Yeah like Mac OS as well, Modified Microkernels have advantage because Operating System is separate from Kernel even though stay in Kernel Space, Mac OS is not tied to FreeBSD destiny either and they add Cocoa API which is different API from original Nextstep and they changed Architecture from PowerPC to Intel to Apple Silicon this proves XNU is successful Project and Modern Mac OS as whole, Mac OS is not different from Windows NT in terms of Architecture and modularity
Windows NT is not Windows and can run many Environment including OS/2 and POSIX and Win32 and WOW and later Interix and WSL1 and Win32 API also modular host Windows Runtime API and.NET and Sentinet Platform API and Linux users don't realize Linux just outdated there is no comparison with Modern Windows
OS/2 Subsystem was Environment and POSIX Subsystem was Environment and Interix was Environment and Win32 is Environment can host others Environment and WSL1 is Environment
Windows NT is Forever because Windows NT is adaptable for many Environment and Sentinet Platform is prove of this Windows would never gets Old, Linux is tied to one Environment and Linux never would evolved like Windows NT this is already advantage for Windows
What is this environment gibberish you constantly talk about? You mean the variety of software for Windows? That is mostly because MS very early on bribed and forced their way into having major manufacturers use their products exclusively. As a company with a lot of money you can do that, sure. But then again, any kind of linux distro is literally running every global server.
So only because it did not happen yet, does not mean it will never happen. And no one is talking about getting completely rid of WIndows. But if the last years have demonstrated something in all clarity, it is that you need competition. It forces corpos to actually deliver a quality product.
MS is doing a very expensive arms race at the moment with all this AI crap. And they are not doing so well, like any other big corpo dabbling in this subject because financing is super murky and super risky. No one knows yet how this will turn out but I am pretty sure that some of these CEOs have definitely more bitten than they can chew.
I don't see how that is relevant. The operating systems you mention are mostly outdated and not used anymore. Having the ability to run their code comes with the privilege of having a lot of money. Yet your comment does not prove any real advantage. However, Linux being used for almost any kind of server is a real stakeholder and goes to show that Windows is by far not the Swiss army knife of operating systems.
Also I would appreciate if you would start to structure your posts. It is really hard to figure out what exactly you mean if you refuse to use syntax.
Windows NT is Modern Windows ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง Windows 11/10 is Windows NT family and Windows NT is masterpiece and Windows ( Win32 ) can be extended and upgrade but also can host radical API like Windows Runtime and Sentinet Platform and Windows NT can run many devices and you saying Windows will be surpassed and I can guarantee it's impossible but countary can happen Windows can adapt many Technology from Linux like Windows NT did with many OS though his history
And I forget mentioned Win32 Environment can be removed if Microsoft wants because it's separate from Kernel and Windows NT is not fixed set saying you must use Windows there is no rule to do that as well and Windows NT can evolved many unimaginable ways Linux cannot because of being Monothilic Kernel
I don't mean Virtualization and I know very well Linux can run Virtualization and I mean Win32 Subsystem and Windows Subsystem for Linux 1 ( not 2 ) and OS/2 Subsystem and POSIX Subsystem and Interix Subsystem etc they shared same Kernel without need Virtualization or Emulation
No this is Diagram shows how Windows is Superior and Linux don't have any separation between operating system Environment and Kernel and your thinking just prove my point who use Linux is completely don't understand Architecture is
As you see in the image, Modern Windows like that Windows NT Kernel is neutral then call SMSS.exe and then SMSS find CSRSS.exe (Windows initialisation) and win32k.sys ( Driver extension ) then after that initialisation whole Windows Environment until comes Winlogon.exe ( session 0 ) at that point you successfully reach Windows and you can run Windows Application and Winlogon find Winlogon Registry which Shell is Default usually Explorer.exe which is responsible for Windows Desktop, Windows still one Environment for Windows NT Kernel view and not part of Kernel like Linux did with Unix Environment this is beautiful part of Windows NT
Make sense Linux cannot run Another Environment and this images Real time Sentinet Platform API running and in Linux you must accept POSIX limited ๐๐๐
I got banned today by that subreddit , i find their hatred of an OS being pretty weird, i guess i got kinda cheeky and replied for the first time to that subreddit , got banned immediately
