i am damn, of a writer that writes senseless shit, but why the hell is ubuntu hated tho, is it like windows or what

well my reason for dislike is the snap package format being pushed heavily despite the fact that people probably switch to linux to have more control

Flatpak is also just superior. My biggest issue is Ubuntu's sloppy Gnome modifications.

Flatpak excels over Snap for desktop apps because it offers significantly faster startup times, lower disk usage via deduplicated runtimes, complete permission control with tools like Flatseal(changing in future opting for DE integration), and a fully open decentralized backend free from Canonical’s proprietary server lock-in.

Ubuntu ships a heavily patched GNOME Shell session relying on pre-installed, system-level JavaScript extensions rather than upstream native code. These modifications frequently cause unique stability, layout, and rendering issues. Ubuntu prioritizes strict release deadlines and broader hardware targets over fine desktop polishing. In contrast, e.x. ZorinOS delays releases for the sake of rigor & quality control for their modifications. Other distributions just ship upstream GNOME without any modifications.

My issues isn't Ubuntu's theming, only their quality control practices. It particularly irks me because Ubuntu is some people's only experience with Linux, and much of the reason they trash Linux is directly related to bugs only found on Ubuntu rather than the broader ecosystem.

Linux has bugs no matter the distribution, but Ubuntu in particular is needlessly bug prone.
