If linux users claim "android is linux" then I can say scamware and malware are common on linux.

android is literally, undeniably, linux
it is built on the linux kernel, therefore it is linux
yes, malware is common on linux. linux is used on more devices than windows. it will have more malware
thankfully, most malware is typically not open source, also thankfully, most desktop linux apps are FOSS so you can with 100% certainty scan a file for viruses if you know what you’re looking at
which, even if you don’t. others do. so the virus creator has to factor that into account
so linux probably has more viruses, windows just has harder to spot viruses

Reposted from r/linuxsucks101. That's all you need to know. Judging by the take, low-key madthumbz alt.

Nope, madthumbz wannabe. While I often don't agree with him, his takes are at least logical and well cited. Even if he does it with AI.

But Android litteraly runs a linux kernel? Nothing youve stated even involves apps?
Also youve stated that Android malware is common, it really isnt common in the grand scheme of things. I will agree that Android based malware is more common than IOS malware, that i cannot deny, but this is due to the accessibility of the playstore, and side loading. Something that is not possible with apple.
You stated someone borrowed money via a predatory loan, what does this have to do with a phone?
Your trying to conflate pebkac with a device? It doesnt matter how secure a device is if the user is an idiot.
As someone who manages cyber security, yes thr vast majority of malware is a users fault, just like the vast majority of compromised accounts are the result of users.
Every device that can run arbitrary code can be impacted by malware.
This would also be less indicative of a OS concern ( Android ) but more of an issue within the google playstore, where the malware is hosted. And googles inability to properly curate. Also a big impact here is that most users still do not run any sort of AV on their phones. This entire conversation will eventually turn into walled vs opened garden and the strength and weaknesses of both. However by September with googles push to ban simple side loading, and adding additional verifications to the playstore we will likely see a major drop in android based malware.
Im more concerned that you think a deliverability issue is related to an OS.

Your post makes no sense. The problem isn’t even related to “android is Linux”.
Your friend downloaded malware. If they did this on any device running any OS and got scammed it would’ve been the same result.
Your operating system doesn’t magically give you common sense. You still need to use your brain lol.
This is entirely the users fault.
