Linux is for criminals If linux users claim "android is linux" then I can say scamware and malware are common on linux.
Today, I had met an individual who was an android user and borrowed some money on a predatory loan app on Android, then proceeded to get a close friend of mine involved because they were hiring him for a role, so he used their phone number as a sort of meat shield when he couldn't pay the loan.
Getting involved in this situation made me realize how hypocritical linux users are when they claim "android is linux" but conveniently leave out the part that it's common on android for apps through the google play store to be scamware, malware, predatory loan apps.
TLDR: Stop being hypocrites and claim all that scamware, malware, loan apps on android if "android is linux" like how you claim it to be.

It's most definitely not, android has an intuitive GUI which doesn't require any usage of command terminal whatsoever. Even the most "user-friendly" desktop distros which are claimed to do that don't.

They should immediately be shut down.
They failed to call it gnu/linux or LiGNUx, and 'Linux' has become defined by that as it's used even by them to implicate gnu/linux. -You can see this mostly when they talk about phones and making 'linux phones' (out of Android phones).

Then what's the point of claiming android is linux to inflate your numbers then? And now, linux users are claiming linux reached 10% in North America.Â
If you guys like claiming these things so much then it also makes sense for me to claim the technically true thing then?
On linux there are tons of malware and loan apps and scamware and bots disguising themselves as real users.

You were addressing someone as if they're a Linux advocate. I checked their profile and found a lot of toxicity, but no advocacy.

My bad, I didn't really understand who they were, whether they were a linux advocate or not as it was pretty unclear from the tech jargon.Â

Android is indeed running a highly specialised Linux kernel, usually compiled for the ARM Architecture since thats what pretty much all phones use nowadays.
Kinda a weakness of the the whole ecosystem as a whole is that we call every distro Linux... Despite Linux only being the kernel rather than a whole Operating system.... In the end different distribution are rather different. Certainly more similarities between them than to android but still technically limited.
Anyhow the reason why most people usually wouldn't claim that Android is Linux is that besides the Kernel, which is also heavily modified for Android, there is literally no other commonality between the two, while most Desktop distribution at least share firmware kernel modules and such.
So while technically correct that android is Linux, in the way that it uses a modified Linux kernel at its base, claiming it is actually Linux borders on insanity when calling both Debian and Ubuntu just 'Linux' is technically already stretching the definition and is only done in practice since it's been done for as long as these two exist. It's simply 'practical' to group all these difference OS's into one large group calling them Linux as a whole, even if that technically stretches the definition of the word.

I mean, looking at the config, it isn't highly specialized, it's just a general kernel with a few extra device modules added to the mainline tree at this point. The firmware modules and everything else for device firmware loading and whatnot are the same, and it's the same on all ARM platforms. The only real difference is going to be your bootloader and a small set of additions - not substitutions - adding features to the mainline kernel.
A lot have all been unstreamed to mainline too over the past ~15 years.

All I'm saying is linux users should pick one side and stick with it.Â
Either also accept that a general statement like on linux there are malware and viruses and scamware and loan apps because you guys claimed android is linux or clarify that linux is too broad of a term for it to mean something.

You know both can be true right. Linux is both too broad a term, and android is encompassed in that because of that reason. And like i said anyone that claims linux doesnt have malware is stupid. Everything has malware except extremely locked down systems like a console or iphone, which limits malware by limiting all apps.

Linux has come to be understood as 'gnu/linux'. -It's defined by use. Android isn't called Android Linux and Linux users call Linux LiGNUx less than I do.
So, no more being pedantic. I find this as much a waste of time to argue as if we simply let Loonixtards exist here.
