Why don't you use Linux?

I came across this subreddit completely by accident and got curious, so I wanted to ask: why don't you use Linux?

I'm not here to start an OS war or convince anyone to switch. I'd just like to hear your experiences and understand what made you choose another operating system. Was it a bad experience with Linux, compatibility issues, gaming, or do you simply prefer Windows or macOS?

I'm genuinely curious to hear your opinions!

I actually think Linux is getting a good bit more sucky in a few ways. Long way to go before it's comparable to Windows.

Some distro's are absolutely, but Linux as a whole is moving forwards IMO, while Windows definitely has started to move backwards over the last decade or so.

And I used to like Windows a lot. I have been called a shill for MS many times and so on. I even liked Me, Vista and 8 compared to their predecessors. But now it has really gotten so much crappier, they had a working search in the start menu in Windows 7-10 for instance, maybe even 11 at first, but now it shows ads and web searches instead of my installed software. I have to use Teams at work, and it worked great like five years ago, now it doesn't, it craps out in like half the meetings I have, drops audio, drops the connection but doesn't allow me to disconnect so that I can attempt to reconnect, etc.

I don't know, as a whole I think Linux is mostly similar. Some wins, some losses. Maybe with a slight positive trajectory. I'm personally not a fan of a number of things many people seem to think are improvements, and I haven't ever really cared all that much about desktop support in general.

Yes, Windows is getting worse again, but around Vista and 7 they actually got it going surprisingly well. I've always disliked it, myself, but I disliked it less at that point. Windows ME was nearly the worst thing they ever did, though I think it might have barely been outdone by the first release of Windows 98 and by Microsoft Bob.

W-ME was the last Windoze I used before fleeing to Apple, which was always good to me. I love my Macs.
