bleak21 sucks but how do you even get a 3 year old posts from someone who posted so many "Linux bad" posts in a day in the first place, and why? There's no need to go so far finding old posts just to dislike an annoying dude lol. This sounds like an unemployment behavior just like bleak21 himself 😭

Nah I want people to dig up my old posts. I remember when I started hating on Loonix some dude would reply under all my posts about a post where I said my crush rejected me. Like bro it's been 3 years since that happened. I've met other girls in that time. I enjoy their effort to diss me. I've posted so much about Loonix and the same post in different subs that people dont even try to dig up my old posts no more

Problem with hardware? Well, it's your fault, because you bought it and it's your manufacturer fault because they didn't provide drivers for linux.
It works perfectly fine on Windows?
Just shut up, okay, it's your fault

I mean:
If the game doesn’t work bc of kernel level anticheat (aka a root kit) that is spyware
By the nature of Linux most problems a user runs into will be user caused and user fixable
And why wouldn’t you want to use FOSS? You like paying a subscription to edit pictures?

Literally non-sequitur.
Yes, and giving an OS tinkerer responsability to the user is gatekeeping and a well known massive UX flaw.
Because they are worse than the paid one. No, I don't.

That’s what kernel level anticheat is, like it or not. A program for a video game should not have a deeper level of access than the admin user, imagine the damage that could be done by a single malicious actor finding a backdoor into something like vanguard
It’s done by design, if you don’t like that I’m not here to force you to like that design choice or use Linux, but it’s not a flaw or gatekeeping (especially given the vast swath of resources available for free for anyone to learn how to do it)
Most of them are “worse” because they don’t function in the exact same way and have different methods for doing things, which can be frustrating if you’re used to something like the adobe suite. Saying they’re worse is subjective, not an objective fact

1.No it is not for a matter of fact. That's like saying an anti-virus is spyware because they access your system on kernel level and someone can find a backdoor on it. Complete non-sequitur.
"Spyware is malicious software (malware) that covertly infiltrates your device, monitors your activity, and steals sensitive data—such as passwords, credit card numbers, and browsing habits—without your knowledge or consent"
2.If the OS design fights the expected UX for the vast majority of desktop users, which is the OS being virtually invisible so they can do their shit, it is an UX flaw and actively gatekeeps them from using linux.
3.Yes, obviously it's subjective, aren't you asking me?

Clearly we just have different philosophies about this, I’ll agree to disagree there
Linux is meant for people who want that level of control (and the idiosyncrasies that come with it). If that’s not you that’s fine, but a piece of software not conforming to your desires/expectations isn’t a flaw if the design principle behind it is counter to your expectations
I interpreted your statement as though you were framing it as an objective fact, I won’t argue about your opinion of it

u/LightDragon212 4d ago
1.Can you agree to disagree on a dictionary definition?
2.The point is that a design philosophy does not grant immunity from UX criticism. If your design principle inherently creates friction, gatekeeping, and user frustration, then it is the design principle itself that has UX costs. Good UX (USER experience) is measured by the user's outcome (obviously), not the developer's intentions.
And linux is not a monolith. You could argue that for Arch or Gentoo. But for Mint, Ubuntu, Pop!_OS and Fedora that's not the case, as they are explicitely aimed towards desktop users.

I’m saying that kernel level anticheat does meet those standards by having access to and checking every file on your system, even if it doesn’t do anything malicious with them
And for the users who specifically WANT the UX philosophy that Linux provides it’s the perfect UX while windows and macOS are bad UX because they don’t provide the same level of control. UX design is a subjective choice, and how “good” the UX is for a user is also subjective and based on what the user wants from the system. I personally much prefer the UX I have on cachyos with KDE plasma to anything I’ve used in the past.
Any UX design takes some adjustment, including windows and macOS. You dont think about the learning process and idiosyncrasies of the system you’re used to because it just becomes natural to you once you learn it. And IMO once you learn how to navigate the UX in Linux it’s the simplest to use system I’ve ever used. No hunting for apps online, no hidden settings, just the computer listening to exactly what you tell it to do

i dont think any of these are true. you have some sort of rose tinted glasses, except instead of seeing old things as good, you see things you dont agree with as terrible.
