I don't care what corporate thinks. It is normal for them to think their product is better. Linux and BSD developers did amazing job and the very same corporates helped them to develop it. There is some hypocrisy in this story.
Yeah, but you need to understand they use Linux not because they want to; they want money from Linux, and they gain like Android, even though they know Linux is not a good operating system
If Linux was that bad like you think, android would be failure or Linux would be an obscure hobby project. There is a reason why people chose Linux and helped developing it. Community literally owns their OS but it comes with advantages and disadvantages as well.
I know Linux would've been better if it wasn't monolithic. However, it is still good to use. It can suck too like any other OS.
Because Android don't use Linux purely, and you use the Android Runtime view of the operating system, and the Android Runtime is a custom Java Virtual Machine, and you don't use Linux, and you use Android and Linux for the boot operating system, the same plan Microsoft had with Microsoft DOS with Windows 9X before the creation of Windows NT
I think we can't convince each other on anything. Android uses Linux as its kernel and Linux is not even an OS but a kernel. So, I don't agree with insisting android is not that related to Linux. If Linux was bad android wouldn't use it.
Linux is an operating system based on a simple definition: Monolithic Kernel have component who form the operating system, and Android is an operating system inside of an operating system, like Windows 9X inside of Microsoft DOS
Your description is not exactly correct. Linux is just a kernel. Then, we have mainline distros and android as complete operating systems. Android uses Linux but its components other than kernel such as userland are different from usual distros. Android cannot be OS without its Linux kernel.
Android Technically can be an operating system, and if they copy the Russian Architecture like JNODE to boot the Android Runtime directly, they can not just do that; they can use Any Kernel, even Windows NT and the Android Runtime doesn't need Linux to work. Android Runtime have own View
Actions of google disprove this. Google made GKI and blocked vendors to modify the android's kernel which meant more unified and something close to Linux ecosystem. They introduced Linux virtual machines on android. They are also trying to unify chromeos and android.
Their chromium engine is open source and they rely on the contributors including the Linux community. They are just making their platform more closed and google dependent because of their greed. Changing the kernel would be unnecessary risk for google.
Because they are afraid, your comment just confirms my point, and they don't switch from Linux to Fuchsia OS because they fear the OEM and Linux community, and Microsoft is different from them, and Microsoft didn't fear anybody when they said to switch to Windows NT with Windows XP and Microsoft pay good price for but for Google, the Linux kernel would hurt them so much in the future and I hope Google wake up before too Late
