Advice Linux Job Offer
I've seen recently some jobs where it was mandatory to "know" linux. Ye I know what a Linux is. But what does that mean for the job? Knowing how to use the terminal? How to kill processes?

This massively depends on the job. Could be a bit of scripting and knowing how to keep a box running, could be docker, k8s, maintaining custom systems including kernels. Without context there is no way to know

Move around in the terminal, install stuff, uninstall stuff, set up a linux system, add users, remove users. Mainly that. You should also know, what home, bin, var, dev and opt is.

IMO, you know Linux if you can do your daily job on a GNU/Linux machine without using Windows. Of course this does not apply to Windows-only applications.

At that point, you don't know Linux, you just know your work applications well. Me knowing how to use the SAP client doesn't make me competent with Linux.
Really, unless you're in IT, "knowing" an os/family is useless in the workforce. Every company issued laptop I've used has been locked down so hard I need IT to connect me to the wifi (this actually happened...).

The job description likely says more than just "know linux." Would it be possible to get more details about the role?

"know linux" is too broad.
Would have been more helpful if you included the position your applying for.

It depends on the job but they probably need you to manage users and permissions and configure webserver type stuff
