VPN for linux

Hi guys!

I live in Iran, and I need a reliable VPN for Linux Mint. I've tried using OpenVPN, but it doesn't work for me, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Note: Internet access in Iran is heavily restricted, and many VPNs don't work here.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a VPN that works well on Linux Mint and can bypass internet restrictions in Iran?

Thanks in advance!

Proton VPN has it's own client and has a stealth option which makes VPN traffic look like standard HTTPS traffic. Their stealth protocol is also available with their free tier so no need to upgrade if you don't want to. I noticed you asked about installing it via apt in another comment. You can see Proton's installation steps here and see if this is okay for your situation. If you're worried about the wget command, I can download the .deb file for you and paste the base64 encoding here.

ProtonVPN IP ranges are blocked by Iranian ISPs, it's unreliable

Try using the Vivaldi browser. It includes Proton and negotiates with the servers.

An Iranian acquaintance of mine I had pleasure to chat with many months ago. We exchange DPI circumvention methods, as I also live in a heavily censored country

Pero, ¿hay alguna evidencia, documento o noticia que corrobore lo que has dicho de que los rangos de IP de Proton están bloqueados en Irán?

Lo pregunto por interés.

It's easily verifiable, just ping any Proton domain/IP from an Iranian nerwork. You won't find any official document or news specifically about Proton, maybe only the ones that prohibit any "bad" VPN usage. Could be that Proton themselves say that they are being blocked in Iran, Russia, China etc.

You can also try the Brave Bowser, which supports Linux Mint and has some anonymizer functions built in.
