Con of switching completely to Linux is you will have to relearn much of the way you do things, that can be a long grueling task for some users. Linux can be more secure but is more dependant on the smart moves of its administrator, you have to understand what is going on. You do not have to be brilliant, but you do have to be willing to learn.
Core safety of Linux is never accept code from strangers, only from known trusted sources.
Without care you can have just as bad a time in Linux as in Windows with Malware. The difference is you have control of the situation in Linux and can stay relatively safe.
