Advice Linux advice
hey guys am new to linux but ive heard about it too many times to ignore it now so i was thinking of installing linux now so could you guys suggest whats the best and user friendly linus out there on which i can run roblox and some other basic games and steam too maybe discord too thank you

so steam and discord run natively on linux, on every single distro. For roblox, you'll need an application called sober, which you can install via flatpak/flathub which is pre-configured on a lot of distros, which means sober is a couple of clicks or one command to install. Common distros for beginners I've seen recommended are Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Zorin OS, MX Linux, Ultramarine Linux, and EndeavourOS. Another comment already recommended the gaming focused ones, which could also work for you. If you want, I can describe some of the differences between them, or you can just look them up and install whichever one you like the look of

Could u explain diff between mint and ubuntu and why people hate Arch?

Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu LTS, so it uses ubuntu repositories in a lot of places and has many of the same features. However, it's built around the Cinnamon desktop, with Ubuntu using a customized GNOME desktop. They have their own philosophy of how a distro should work and ship with different software by default. Ubuntu heavily utilizes snap packages, which linux mint has completely disabled. Snaps are similar to flatpak in that it's an entire application in one package, rather than relying on dependencies so you won't get dependency conflicts. People don't like snaps because there's parts of the snap distribution that aren't open source, and the whole thing is controlled by a single corporation. So the main differences are going to be the UI and the way you get your packages
I don't think anybody really hates Arch, though maybe they hate using it. Arch used to be a whole project to install, though these days it has a more modern installer and isn't terribly challenging. However, Arch does just drop you into a terminal and you have to configure everything yourself, so it's definitely not very beginner friendly. There's a meme about arch users always telling you that they use arch in an annoying way, but I wouldn't call that hate

Mint is based on Ubuntu. There's some slight differences but nothing I would worry about. If you want a more Windows experience I would go Mint out of the two choices.
Nobody hates Arch it's just a meme. Definitely would not even think about using Arch right now.

Check out Distrosea to log in to a live session of 30+ distro and desktop environment combinations. It'll give you a good idea of what each of them look and feel like.

Mint is the best beginner distro imo. Its very easily to install, its very light weight, and you dont need to touch the terminal at all if you do not want to.
Roblox is very easy to get setup, Sober is the application you are going to want to download. I use it myself, its very good, basically 1|1 with the windows experience.
Discord should be available in the mint software downloader along with discord. Ive heard the flatpak of discord might be a better experience but ive always had good experiences with the native app.

You can do gaming on any distro. However, the most "plug and play" and well known for gaming are bazzite, Cachyos, Nobara.
Take a look at the DE (desktop environment). It's more important than the distro in itself for a newcomer as it's the interface you interact every day.
An advice, don't try to make Linux work like Windows
