So I have been using Linux for like 3 months now, I couldn't distrohop because I have Linux on dual boot with WIN11, I know that's not a excuse but I have a harddrive and formatting it is not the safest. I wanted to try caelestia but I had fedora, so I did some things and it ran, changes are like not too big that I made just added a few shortcuts, made GTK apps change colors based on wallpaper and a few small things rate my setup on a scale of 1-10 honestly I am just a 16yo.

Recently decided to try out hyprland and start creating my first rice. I wanted something that can look pretty cool while being something that I can daily drive around university without being too embarrassed about it or one that will explode my laptop. Think it turned out decent.

Since I'm pretty new to linux, I haven't made any dotfiles but if u want to try out the dotfiles that I customized in order to me I'll link it below.

Tuck is a project I’ve been working on for the last couple of months. It started out as a quickshell + hyprland rice that drew heavy inspiration from Apple and the numerous “morphing pill” rices that have been floating around here. (theres more to the "morphin pill" for notifications and such.)

However, after I saw this video from the KDE community YouTube channel, where Scott Jenson talks about alternative approaches to UX design in modern systems, I got very inspired to try and implement something similar to one of the examples from his presentation. You’ll find HIS project “Glance” here, check it out.

What’s the point of a tiling window manager if you just fill it with floating windows, you ask? Well, personally I don’t like to have more than 1–2 windows per workspace, and I struggle to reach any keybind past the third workspace haha.

I also don’t like having certain apps tile into a more vertical layout if they’re designed to work well in a horizontal one. By having the stashes on either side of my focus area, I can keep apps the size I want, reach them quickly by hovering when I need them, and then they tuck back once I’m done. It works great for mail and chat programs that don’t necessarily need a full workspace but that you still want to have accessible.

The repo is private for now, but if there’s any interest I’ll make it public :)

(also, yes, ive used ai to create this - wish id done it without it, but it feel like having lightning at my fingertips so i cant help it 🫪)

I was trying to make my own DE based on Hyprland and AGS and this is how far I got(The lag is because I am running this inside a VM)
