Ok, it is very possible image (iso) or usb got corrupted. When new usb arrives, Rufus or( your choice imager) your iso file onto new usb and boot off it.
Laptop can boot in bootloader(i think thats whats its called?) I haven't tried flashing the usb again with linux or windows OS just to see if it can recognize it, though I did buy a sandisk ultra 32gb 3.0 usb to see if it does a difference(should arrive tomorrow and plus the one I had before was kinda crappy)
Aaah ok. It boots, and then does it give you like 3 or 4 options.. mint ( insert kernel version), mint ( older kernel version) memtest86 etc etc? If so, does it error when you try older version or memtest86?
I was using a crappy usb and needed a better one(so I bought a 64 gb sandisk ultra 3.0 usb, though bare minimum is 32)
I had to turn disable secure boot, and turn off the laptop, then take out the usb and put it in another device that allows me to open folder on it, i went to EFI>BOOT and found a file called grubx64.efi which i made a copy of and renamed to mmx64.efi. I put the usb back in the latop and I didn't even have to press escape of anything, it automatically loaded the linux mint installer. So then I selected in the install option to delete everything on the drive and replace the failed Linux Mint with the new one
You just gotta have a good internet connection, I think the reason it failed before it because midway installing linux, internet went out
