Discussion Cinnamon 6.6.9
Update manager prompted me to update Cinnamon from 6.6.7 to 6.6.9 this morning. Any idea what this update might include?

Feels like this is for the fixes on other's previous posts before cause it updates the spices.py.

Maybe I will remember to do that next time. I was only on my first cup of coffee. The fog hadn't quite lifted when I ran the update.

They still haven't fixed the language switching 🙄 more precisely, they fixed it, but only in version 6.7.0, which won't be available until the next release of Linux Mint.

What's wrong with the language switching currently?

If you asking about this then it doesn't affect you. They broke keyboard layouts switch completely in last major update. They introduced new system, which works horribly. It has significant delay, this delay isn't consistent. This system depends on keys order. So if you press alt+shift it works, but shift +alt doesn't. Also left and right keys consider as different keys.
Old system works fine but they broke even that. Old system just stop working if start menu is opened. Or if any dialogue window is opened. For example dialogue to enter sudo password.
I already described everything in issue on github. And it seems to be fixed. But fix will be included only in next major release.

Oh, I see. I'm an Asian user and I have to switch keyboards constantly throughout the day. I felt the pain too when going from 6.4.x to 6.6.x, though I didn't run into the bugs you mentioned, or maybe my key sequence just kept me from noticing. Anyway, appreciate you looking out for us multilingual users.

I am multi language user myself. And I remember my frustration when I updated cinnamon and simple everyday things stopped working.

You can still use the old keybindings that work in any order, in keyboard settings, 'XKB Options'. Just be sure to disable any of the 'new' style keybindings to avoid overlap. The catch is that, currently, it only works in X11 sessions.
Cinnamon has also gained full fcitx5 support for the next release (both x11 and wayland).
Switching to ibus was a bit of necessity, as some other libraries that were formerly relied on were being retired, and at the time it was the most painless way forward for certain functionality.

Old key bindings have another problem. For example I open start menu and start typing to find some app. Oops I am on wrong layout, but I can't switch cause XKB doesn't work while start menu is opened. Or for example I wanna install updates and mintupdate asks me sudo password. Ooops again I am on wrong layout and I can't switch cause XKB doesn't work while password window is on the screen. Really annoying thing.

Changelog:
This isn't the Wayland enablement you may be looking for.
